Reported today by MousePlanet.com:

"Pleasure Island has been slated for some "major enhancements." While most details are as yet unavailable, we do know that both stages will be eliminated and that a new walkway will be constructed. In addition, the enhancements will require the end to the nightly fireworks show at midnight. The final fireworks show at Pleasure Island will be the grand finale to the New Year's Eve party the night of December 31. If you want to see fireworks at Pleasure Island, you've got two months left."

So much for that fireworks viewing pavilion at Saratoga Springs. :(

Honestly, I'll play devil's advocate and wait to see what they have in store. That's the double-edged sword of the rumor mill--you only get half of the story. The fireworks are the climax to the NYE celebration. If that event is going away, it's a substantial loss to DTD. Let's wait and see how this all plays out...

To be perfectly honest, I thought it was a pretty slim fireworks anyway. Maybe it's time for a change.

I did finally see them after 11 years - from my balcony at SSR. A nice little touch but rather 'slim' as pointed out.

I too am going to wait for something bigger and better!

lol the only reason I am still up at midnight when I am at WDW is beacuse a small child needed me in the middle of the night. Otherwise, I am too pooped to pop from playing all day.

I think I have caught the fireworks at Pleasure Island ONCE while staying at the Grosvenor and it was because of travel time from the MK back to the hotel, etc (all of which made me say "only onsite for me please!" ). I could take them or leave them.
