I have a car rented through Emerald Club in October. I received an e-mail confirming my rate would be $134.90. I'm putting things together for this trip, and went to print my confirmation through National's website. I was shocked to see the rental was now $187.56.
I called Emerald Club to find out why. The gal on the phone told me they recently changed their return grace period from one hour to 29 minutes (I'm booked to pick up at 2:30 and return at 3:30). The system wasn't supposed to do it, but it went in and changed all grace period rentals to the current rate. She said they would honor the rate I was quoted. She gave me a reference number in case of any problems.
I doubled-checked with Alamo today, and (since they're the same company) it looks like they're also are charging an extra fee for rentals over the 29 minute grace period.
So check your rentals and if you see anything wrong, give them a call.
