Hi All
just returned Friday. Good wine, Good food, Good friend - variety of weather - good times :goodvibes
Sat Oct 22 & 23rd first stay at PO-Riverside - nice resort -second floor-just over the bridge to pool/restuarant/store/lobby- waterview corner room with with extra windows (in "L" shape so the windows wrapped around the corner) - not soo good during a hurricane - but would be really nice any other time.
Arrived at 10:00am (flight moved up by sw :idontgeti due to hurricane Katrina) - weather sunny & warm, showers in the evening - first stop DTD to renew annual pass then to pors to checkin and in room by 1pm-pool bar for cocktail then off to EPCOT for Taste of Senses party - GREAT TIME Would DO this again in a minute - well worth the 100.00
Sun - hot muggy - day at AK - stop at pool then off to MGM to get a picture of ds working the tram - arrive just as the skis OPEN UP - HERE COMES WILMA. ds is driving the tram tonite so only time for a Quick :howudoin:. Back to PO for dry clothes - hit the bar for appetizers and stay to watch the game. DS calls to let me know that all parks will be closed monday with only MK & EPCOT currently scheduled to open at 2pm & No disney transportation for the first park of day. since we were scheduled to move to OKW Monday, i called front desk - very helpful gentleman stated that it really didn't look good for a morning move/checkout that we should call operations on Monday but not to worry we would have a place to stay.
Called the number monday morning, informed them I had a car - woman i spoke to called OKW to ensure our room was available and told us we had after 1pm to check out (the storm was scheduled to pass by around noon).
Sometime in the middle of the nite the staff of PO slipped a note under room doors informing us of park closing/transportation and were to look/call for any information or assistance. Around 12 noon there was a knock on the door, i opened it to see one housekeeping employee with 4 LIFEGUARDS standing behind her - they were there to clean the room. Well we made it safely to OKW and our room was ready at 1pm - studio 3516 located on old turtle pond road.
Monday afternoon the weather turned chilly - we spent the afternoon/early evening at MK before heading over to California grill to meet ds for dinner. Had a great window table with an excellent view of the fireworks - service and meal were great - very enjoyable evening.
Tuesday was another chilly day with temps overnite matching the record low of 47. or was it 42 - whatever, it was cold. Spent the morning at the spa at saratoga - was that relaxing - what a great way to spend 4 hours -a stop at dtd for lunch at RainForest - :thumbsway terrible service, :yuck: worst food.
Now off to MNSSHP - this was fun - lots of GREAT customes to look at - people are so creative - Parade (headless horseman) was really cool and fireworks were fantastic.
Wednesday - sun is out and it is starting to warm up - MGM here we come did all our favorites RRC, ToT, WWtbM and checked out Motor, Lites Action then spent an hour in the sun, enjoying a cocktail or two and watching the parade - then off to hang out in the parking lot to get a picture of ds in his bright yellow uniform to post on internet for all his friends to see ROTFL: Then dinner tonite at Fultons Crab House - another great meal and great service.
Thursday morning spend relaxing by the pool then off to meet ds for an afternoon evening at Food & Wine at EPCOT - IMHO Canada (ice) and ireland (mead) CAN NOT make wine :duck:
Friday and all too fast our vacation is over - we pack up and head over to the pool for a last few hours of sun and a cocktail or two then off to the airport for a quick but less than smooth ride home. Where we are greeted by some cold air but warm hugs from our dhs.
Both Monica and I agree that next year we'll bring our husbands --- as long as they pay.....LOL
only 41 more days until our next trip.... :bluebloun
