Day 2

Well, we got up around 7 on Sunday morning to pack-up and get ready for our move to the BCV. I wanted to get there ASAP to get checked-in so we can start using the dining plan. While DW was getting ready, I went and snapped a few photos of the resort.

When I got back to the room, Rachel was ready, and we went to the GCH to check our bags for transfer over to the BCV. I really love the fact the Disney does this for guests. It makes switching resorts very painless. After the luggage check we went for breakfast at the Kona Café. We had an ADR for 9am. We were ready to get the day rolling so we checked in about 8:20. With it being Mother’s Day, I wasn’t sure if we would have to wait or not. We were seated right away and Rae was presented with a carnation in honor of Mother’s Day. It’s the little things like this that keep us coming back to WDW. Now Kona was good, but wow, I couldn’t believe how big the servings were. After struggling through breakfast Rachel looks at me and says, “Why don’t we go to the AK today so you can ride Everest.” I nearly jumped over the table to hug her I was so excited. We went and caught the monorail to the MK and then bussed over to the BCV. I of course am getting very antsy about EE. Each minute that goes by makes me more and more excited. When we get to the BCV, the check-in line was relatively short. I didn’t get a “Welcome Home” but that was OK, because we got our studio and it was ready at 9:30 in the morning. I couldn’t believe it. We went up to the room just to get our bearings and to drop off a few things. We were in room 369. When I walked out onto our balcony, this is what I saw when looking straight out.

Well, needless to say, we were thrilled with our location but we couldn’t stay and linger. We went back down and got on the bus to the AK. When we got to the park I knew it would be busy. We made our way swiftly back to EE. You know, it is a long way back there. When we got to the ride I couldn’t believe the number of people in the area. Many of them were waiting in line, but many more were waiting for folks to get off of the ride. Whatever the reason they were there, the area was very congested. We got FPs which were about 2hrs out. We then got in the stand-by line which was posted at the weeks magical number 50 minutes. I have never seen so many attractions with the same wait times. Anyway, the queue for EE is great. It is amazing what they have put in there. When you run right through, you miss the little details. For example, there is a supply shop that you walk through that sells tea. One of the brands is Yet-Tea. I laughed and laughed about that. Anyway, Everest was fantastic, but it made Rachel sick. I think it was the helix that got to her. When she gets nauseated, she wants something salty, so we walked over to Dino-Land and got some fries. I went to Flame Tree and took this pic from the tables down by the lake.

She felt better after she ate and we proceeded into the rest of the park. After watching ITTBAB, it was time to use our Everest FPs. Rachel didn’t want to go, so I took both of them and rode twice more in a span of 20 minutes. EE is such a great ride. The Imagineers really did a wonderful job. After that we got a FP for the safari and did some shopping. Then we rode the train to Conservation Station. We had never been here before and it was pretty interesting. Once we got back to Harambe, it was time for our safari. This was one of the best I have ever been on. Many of the animals were very close to the truck and we got to see the new baby elephant. After our safari, we decided to go back to the room so we could get our luggage and get ready for dinner at Tony’s. After a short nap, we got ready and made our way to the MK. When we got to Tony’s we had a small problem. The hostess could not find our name on the ADR list. I had our confirmation numbers and when I gave it to her, our ressie was for June 6th. She said, “That can’t be right, you guys are here now” So, she worked us in. Tony’s was great and our server was the best. After stuffing ourselves silly, we did more shopping and picked up some mouse-ears for some friends of ours who are going for their first trip to the World in June. Then we went and got a spot for Wishes. It is so good. It is by far my favorite nighttime show.

All in all, it was a magical day. Tomorrow, we take time to smell the roses at Epcot.

Thanks again for sharing!

I agree about the congestion around E:E...it's terrible in that area. Love the Hidden Mickey and I'm so jealous of your view at BCV!

Hate to be stupid but what is the helix?

Not a stupid question at all!

A helix is bascially a descriptive term for (in this case) a track design.
In it's basic form, a helix is a spiral (not to be confused with an inversion).
In the diagram below the helix is shown in the red.

Helix's are a three-dimensional curve that lies on a cylinder or cone, so that its angle to a plane perpendicular to the axis is constant.

While you could get quite a rush out of it--I think most people have no ill effects from this.

Anyway, the queue for EE is great. It is amazing what they have put in there.

It is amazing--there's over 8000 props installed at EE

Lisa, you are not being stupid. A helix is a series of high-banked curves usually spiraling downward. On Everest the helix actually goes up. There is some definate downward force on you and this is what made Rachel feel sick.

Funny enough, the helix was one of my favorite parts of EE....yet you could not PAY ME ENOUGH to get on MS ever again! :worried:

Assuming it was the centrifugal effect that bothered you on M:S -- I'd really recommend you try the "light" version of M:S - at worse the 'Tamer' side is no different than Star Tours.

Question: so the helix (or is it a double helix when it spirals twice?) on EE goes up instead of down...is that when you are going backwards?
I LOVE roller coasters, and this isn't a particularly fast one or anything...but at one point when it was going backwards in the dark, I felt a little weird...sort of a pressure/queasy combo

I really liked the way you explaned that, especiallly that you included the diagram.
My new 'larning' for the day...preparing me for that final round on Jeopardy!

The helix is after the drop and before you see the Yeti. I believe the pressure while going backwards is simply from going up. The car must go up to be in position for the drop.

Sorry to hear Rachael got sick, but happy to hear she recovered quite quickly.

We plan on doing EE when we are down there in a short 99 days.

I need to get my countdown calendar back.

Love the view from your room.

So glad you loved EE DG! When we were there, I was telling DH and you and wife being down, and ya'll trying out EE. I agree, the queue line is worth the wait, I get lost in reading all the things. Oh yeah, we had the room 2 doors down from you in Feb., too funny!

Sounds like such a magical trip. So happy to hear! :wearenumb

Wow, sounds like fun - EE.

I am glad to find out what a helix is as well. I was drawing a blank.
