Anybody else think this movie was pathetic?

Best thing about it was the projector break down and subsequent free movie ticket we received on the way out.

Well, shoot. I was sort of looking forward to it. Guess I'll just wait for Pirates.

Anybody seen the Da Vinci Code? I was hyped for it, but it's been panned by critics. (Not that I pay much attention to them.) I just like to be entertained. If it's another dud, I won't waste the money.

"From the creators of Shrek...":bagovermy Yeah, so what? The Pinto was from the creators of the Mustang.

The kids liked it, ages 6&7. I will give it that it was better than Chicken Little.

I thought it was adorable. Thought the animation was really done well, and I liked the story line, kind of like Buzz LightYear--the old tried and true friend is tested by the new, but it all works out in the end. Loved Hammy

Well, if it's better than chicken little, that's good... but not saying much, LOL. Didn't care for it at all. We buy our movie tix through DealPass (formerly Hotwire) and the one stipulation (re: can't use the movie pass until the movie has been out for at least 2 weeks) works well for us - if the movie doesn't last that long, it ain't worth seeing! And usually, within 2 weeks, enough reviews are out that you get a sense of what you're in for.

Anybody else excited about that penguin movie they keep showing ads for (that doesn't come out until like Nov or Jan or some such ridiculously far-off date?) It seemed cute with cool graphics.

Not sure at all about Cars. WHen they first did promos for it, I thought it looked good - now, I am having my doubts. Looks too "cutesy" or something - can't put my finger on it, but I'm just not feeling the urge to see it.

Movies lately are beginning to feel like a Righteous Bros. song....They've lost... that Disssssney feeeeelin.....They've lost that Disssssssney feeeeeelin....Bring back that Disney feelin' cuz it's gone, gone, gone, whooooah-ohhh-oh-oh....

Funny, Gopher, Cars is actually starting to appeal to me, where as the first few previews I saw I didn't like the feel of it. This past preivew reminded me of the Michael J Fox movie Doc Hollywood which I liked alot.

Read the story line for Cars.

Than recall or read up on Doc Hollywood with Michael J Fox.

My sister went to see over teh hedge last night and said it was a waste of money she also said that it wasn't as good as chicken little which I really liked byt he way. She didn't think Chickey little was very good and for her to say this was worse was enough for me not to want to waste the 10 bucks to go see it at the theatre. As or teh Davinci Code a few of my friends saw it at teh drive in this weekend and said it wasn't very good they were comparing it to National Treasure and said NT was done way better and Tom Hanks just didn't fit the story line for this movie.

I really enjoyed Davinci Code! It's got a B or B- from users at Yahoo Movies, which isn't bad at all. C+ from critics, but it's normal for movies to be rated a letter grade higher by users than critics.

My DH said the same thing about the Cars movie when we saw the preview. We were there to see The DaVinci Code and we actually liked the movie. I had just finished the book which I thought was really good. It sure made a lot of money over the weekend even with the bad reviews. Are you ready for the new XMen movie this weedend?

Wow, I have a longer list of movies to see than I've had in a LONG time. Da Vinci Code, X-Men, Cars. Then Pirates. There's usually not much I want to see on first run, even during the summer blitz. With most flix, I'm usually willing to just wait for PPV. For Hedge, I think I'll wait for HBO.

Oh...is anyone else a Miyazaki fan? (Spirited Away.) We've been enjoying his movies for years with subtitles - even back when they were hard to find, so I'm really glad Disney Home Entertainment is pushing his stuff in the U.S. (John Lassiter of Disney/Pixar is a BIG fan.) Miyazaki never disappoints. I just bought Howl's Moving Castle and loved it.

I was so hoping Over teh Hedge would be as great as it looked. :( I loved CHIcken Little, though, and I think I'll love Cars. So, maybe if I go in not expecting too much, I won't be disappointed. ;)

BTW - The Mustang/Pinto classic posted above was classic!!!!

Ok I saw this over the weekend and loved it!!!! It may have helped that the red squirrel sounded very much like my red-headed nephew, though. "But I want the cookie."

I really liked Chicken Little too if you're looking at that correlation.

I liked "Chicken Little" but yawned through "Over The Hedge". What a waste of time and money.

DS and I saw it this weekend. It was cute...not great, but cute. We both love Hammy the squirrel too! The cookie reminded me of both my kids when they get that sad puppy dog eyes look when they want something! :scratchch He was probably the best part of the movie. (But I always liked Steve Carrell so that probably had something to do with it too. :headscrat )

I'm not sure what it was - maybe low expectations, maybe sleep deprivation - who knows - but I really liked this!

Took kids to see it around noon after school let out for the summer - half their parochial school had same idea, LOL - get in the theater before the public schools let out at 3! Also took their caregiver / adopted "grandma" with us - first movie she says she's been to in at least 15 years or more! She and my son and I sat together (other 2 kids sat with their pals). My DS11 and I share a very similar sense of humor, and we just laughed throughout the movie - I actually think I laughed more than him, LOL. And at the admittedly silliest things. I loved RJ's discussion on food, and the turtle driving a car. When the turtle says to RJ, "You... are the devil." (or at least we THINK that's what he said!) I laughed so hard I embarrased my DS11. Now, of course, I read what I just typed and think, what the poop is so funny or clever about that line? NOthing terribly novel there! But it was - and I laugh just thinking about those words and the expression on the turtle's face when he said it. THere was of course some unbelievability in it... and a fair amount of copying from Ice Age (the whole "herd" motif, for example) But dittoes on Hammie - he's our favorite too! I guess he's the "Scrat" of the film. He reminds me of my DS9 - so hyper, but so lovable and affectionate. We don't let him have caffiene either!

Maybe it was the animation. I did not care for CHicken Little, as I have already mentioned. THe characters were SO unappealing to me. Hated the cow flick - what was it - Home on Range? Didn't even buy the DVD and my kids didn't care that I didn't buy it, either. For some reason both seemed very flat to me - just not the depth I was hoping for, like I saw in ,say, the Pixar pics. I thought this was a better job than those 2, at least.

Or maybe it was the characters. Squirrels and porcupines... I'm a sucker for fellow members of order Rodentia, of course.

Who knows. May have just been the phase of the moon. But I really liked it, and can honestly say we will buy it on DVD when it comes out. I thought the score could have used some work, but other than that... we gave it 4 thumbs up.    I think DH, when he sees it, will make that 5.

We went to see the Hedge tonight and thought it was great DW and DD 6 had a good time. Thought that Hammy was great. We weren't looking for anything deep and this movie played to my corney sense of humor. If you're looking for anything astounding or with a lot of plot then this movie is not for you. But, we enjoyed it:crackedup

gopherit, we will probably buy it, too, when it comes out. My sons favorite line was the one about the cookie. Some times the words aren't that funny when repeated, but the delivery in the movie makes them memorable.

This is one of those movies that I will likeley rent and rip to DVD when it becomes available.
