OK...I'm too lazy to look this up....
DW & I would like to do the Sedgeway (2hr) Experience next July. How far in advance can we book? Also, do they offer AP or DVC discount?
TIA

You can book tours quite far in advance. Last time I booked one (which was around Feb or March '04), I was told they were equipped to book all the way thru the end of '04. There is no 90 / 180 day window for tour bookings.
However, payment in full is charged at the time of the booking. You can cancel up until 24 or 48 hours in advance and receive a full refund. But be prepared to see the tour price appear on your credit card right after you call to book the tour.
There is a 15% discount for either DVC, AP or AAA, and I think that the Disney Visa is currently running a promotion that gives you 20% off. Not sure how long that special might be running.
The segway tours are quite popular, so it probably wouldn't hurt to book now. The number is 407-WDW-TOUR.
Note that there are now two segway tours. The "Simply Segway Experience" is a one hour instructional session with little ride time. That tour is $45. The "Around the World on a Segway" tour includes the one hour instructional session plus another hour of free riding in the World Showcase. This longer tour is $80.
Hope that helps.
I've never done either, but am considering booking one as a surprise for my wife. I know Kim just did one of the segway tours last week, so maybe she will chime in with some comments.

WE did the longer one last December, and LOVED it. They make sure you can maneuvre pretty well before they send you out to WS. The fun thing is that you are in WS before it opens. They take a photo of you on your Segway with SE in the background.

Sweet! Once we firm up our Summer dates, I'll call.

Kim&I did the Segway tour. It is quite awesome. However, one thing to note is that you really don't get a hour of "free ride" time in WS. Most of that hour is spent following the guide around on a preset path. While still cool (especially zooming through the gift shop in the Marrakesh (sp?) section), just don't think they're giving you a Segway, pointing you towards the World Showcase, and saying "Be back in an hour". It is fairly structured, and includes some "down time" where the guides are giving you WS trivia.
The closest you'll come to "free ride" time comes when they pause to take your picture. At this point, the guides will mark off a rather large area with cones, and you are free to either (a) wait in line for a picture to be taken (the guides use your camera), (b) rest, (c) take a bathroom break or (d) actually free-ride. We chose (d), and just zoomed around for about 5 to 10 minutes while everyone else queued up for pictures. Don't worry, you can always get your picture taken last, like we did.
The two hour version of the tour has two starting times, 8:30 and 9:30. We thought the 9:30 one was more fun, because for the last half of your WS ride time, the park is actually open, so other visitors wave to you, take pictures, and ask "Is that fun??". Or, as our guide put it "Remember, when you see other guests, smile, you are actually part of the show".

I wanna do it!
So with DIsney VIsa we get a 20% discount correct? Making the $80 tour,
$64. Now I just need to talk Mar into it! :goodvibes

I remember thinking that was one of the coolest parts of it! You go through FW all with your little helmuts on and following your instructor like baby ducks following their mother! SOme of the folks are very comfortable on the Segways, and some not so much. It's really cool when you get these looks of "I wish I was doing that" from the other guests. We plan to do it again.

Well, I won't get to be "part of the show", but htat may be a good thing. I can just see the pictures of me taking a header all over the internet! ;)

LOL! Actually, they are VERY easy to ride, and the only problems might come when you have to get off and back on. DH had a bit of trouble with that.

Anyone know what the age restrictions are for that? I'm pretty sure I can assume my two DS's won't be old enough - they'll be 9 and 10 the next time we'll be there. We'd love to go, but don't want to do it without them!

16 and up AFMom. I think that's pretty much true for anything that goes behind the scenes. For Segway, it's probably a liability thing too.

Yeah - kinda figured that... Well - we've got 'till 2054 - I'm sure we can fit it in there somewhere!

I know how you feel - I'd love to get this for my dh because he would absolutely love it, but I can't figure out what to do with the kids while we're there, and he wouldn't think it was much fun by himself. Oh well, it'll probably still be around when we can figure something out.
