View Full Version : Annoying MS Mistake

So, I was all excited about having gotten a one-bedroom BW view for early December, but my hopes were dashed. :/ I had to call for the last night while I was on vacation, and I was told that we had it. But when we got home, there was a voicemail saying MS had made a mistake and we were on the waitlist instead. And this was almost a week later that we got this message, so I don't know how good our chances are of switching the previous nights to the p/g view.
What do you guys think? Try to switch the previous two nights to p/g view? Or stay on the waitlist for the last night at bw view?
We really don't want to change rooms for just one night. But on the other hand, I really had my heart set on bw view, in particular because I've thought for a week that we had it, so receiving that voicemail was pretty disappointing.

That really stinks! I wonder what happened in a week that they all of a sudden figured out they made a "mistake"?
I really hope you're able to get what you want!!:dust :tinker:

You must be first on the waitlist (not that anyone would ever tell you), I'd wait it out. For 1 night, it seems like it'd have to come through. JMO. Just don't forget that at 30 days out you need to be put back on the list. :dust

Kimberly,
I think she called back the same morning, but it was that we didn't get the message until almost a week later because we were on vacation.
Carrie,
I have a feeling you may be right, and we are likely first on the waitlist. I'm betting that what happened is that someone else was on the phone requesting the same thing at the same time I was.
Even thought it makes me nervous, I guess we'll just wait it out. We're still six months and three weeks away!
And we're actually still on the waitlist for the Thursday night, too... see, we want to do a three day weekend, but we don't care of we stay Thurs-Fri-Sat nights or Fri-Sat-Sun nights. So I guess that increases our odds, if we only need one or the other to come through. We don't need to buy plane tickets for awhile.

Mistakes can always happen. We have to live with them.

Agreed, but I also think it's OK to vent one's frustration when they do happen. I'd be bummed if I thought I got a coveted reservation only to be told it was a mistake.

With so long to go, I don't think you should worry...and definitely do NOT change to pool/garden which is the same points for SO MUCH LESS value.
It doesn't pay for Disney to change you either....costs too much to do a full room checkout clean. So I bet they find a way...it wouldn't hurt to call them tho and say that you were on vaca and were excited to get the BW room but then came home to a call that you had not REALLY gotten it and what is going on????????

In addition to the potential that a mistake was made, it could be that some rooms are being slated for maintenance and MS might not have known about it. There are a few reasons why the computer room inventory might not be 100% accurate every moment.
My guess is that it was a mistake. Sorry to hear about it...I can understand getting excited about something and being disappointed when it falls through.
Stick with the waitlist....we'll be pulling for you to get the rooms you want. :)

I agree, I would be sorely disappointed too because noone loves being on the waitlist... That said, though, we went on the waitlist for a GV for a week in mid -Dec 2005. We found out in late August that we couldn't travel at fall break as we intended. At first, all we got was Saturday and Sunday (big surprise;) ) With only three months, we got all the weekdays we were waiting for :sunny: Therefore, I say definitely wait; I bet you will get one of the two
I don't blame you for being dissapointed but mistakes happen and I have a lot of time and patience for people who admit they've made a mistake.
Thank goodness you know about it now instedad of a few mon tghs from now! I'd politely be calling Member Services every few days and try to put together the reservation you'd like piece by piece if necessary. As Colorado Belle points out, you have plenty of time. And I think the way to go about it is to casually mention to the Member Services folks what the issues are. Not at first but during those pauses while they're doing their thing, it wouldn't hurt to mention that you're trying to reconstruct a reservation you thought you had....just make sure you do it in a positive way. Whatever mistake was made, the Member Services person you'll be talking to didn't do it. Hang in there...it will work out.

Did you call to confirm that you are on the waitlist? I did a waitlist and the MS person forgot to enter it. I found out weeks later.

Thank you to everyone! I got an MS person who was nice and seemed to handle my complicated call without any confusion. Here's the basic rundown:
I am looking for a three-day weekend stay, including Fri 12/8 and Sat 12/9. I was able to get those at BWV with a boardwalk view. When I first called for Thurs 12/7, nothing was available at BCV, BWV, or VWL, so I waitlisted all of those. When I called for Sun 12/10, I was initially told that I had boardwalk view, but it turned out that I only got pool/garden view.
Now, when I called this morning, it turned out that three of my waitlists for 12/7 had come through and were sitting there waiting to be claimed (moral of the story... keep bugging MS to see if waitlists have come through even though you didn't get a call). So, I had BCV, VWL, and BWV g/p available for 12/7.
I decided to take the 12/7 BWV g/p instead of the 12/10 I had previously booked, since checking in Thurs and out Sun was our first choice. And we stayed on the waitlist for the nights of 12/7 and 12/10 for BWV bv, hoping to get one or the other.
So I'll just wait and buy plane tickets until much later. Or else buy Southwest, so I can switch them. :)

Oh... well, I'm still in pretty much the same situation as before... two nights in boardwalk view and one night in garden view. But at least with the flexibility of waitlisting two different nights to get just one more with the boardwalk view, I have better odds than most.

Oh bummer, my brain must not have read that right. :( I'm sure it will come through for you, though!
