Hi everyone! I'm going to Disneyworld this Friday!!!

I read something about a new road opening that allows you to bypass I-4 from the Florida turnpike. I'll be taking I-75 South to the turnpike. Anyone know about this, or did I just dream it up?

You may have been dreaming, but it's also a reality. It's part of the "western beltway". There is a Disney exit off of it the drops onto Buena Vista Drive just below CSR.

Hello Eric! Good to see you and great to hear you are heading down!!!

We are going down Thursday for a long weekend ourselves. gotta get my geek on for Star Wars weekens :)

Viking - is the exit from the turnpike clearly marked? When we went down for Spring Break, it wasn't open yet.

Haven't been on the road, but assume if Disney had anything to do with the exit, if you don't see it, you probably shouldn't be driving anyway.

We passed it a couple of times last week. From inside WDW property it was very obvious. I'm sure it will be easy to spot from outside the propety.

We skip the turnpike almost completley as soon as you enter the turnpike from I-75 we pass the esso/exxon. I believe it is #27 that we take but I can't remember for sure I will have to ask DW when she gets in and post back.

We plan on finding the mysterious western way tomorrow morning. I am so hoping THE Viking is right, and it is clearly marked. I heard it is exit 267, SR 429. Well, hopefully I'll end up in WDW, if not, hopefully somewhere friendly! :D

and boy would THAT qualify as "bad poetry" Viking lol

You would have gotten to know Tooneric's form of bad poetry if you had not been so busy running from the dwarf before. Hopefully he will share and you will understand our groaning...I mean applause

The Viking, by the BaD pOeT :viking:

There once was KNWVIKING,
Who gave me advice on turnpiking,
If the exit you pass,
You might run out of gas!
So please stop if you see me hitch hiking!

hey jnrrt, doncha mean culcha?

My sister is coming down from FRuitland Park tomorrow ...she took the turnpike up (tho she was starting at the airport so that was fine)
But if she comes down to Disney, wouldn't it be better if she took the western entrance off this new toll road?

I have an old map, but it looks like she would come down 27 til it hits the turnpike and then get on the tp for 2 exits to just past Windter Garden and then the new toll road to Western Way. I hope she checks it out...I'll be going up to Fruitland Park to visit relatives in September and I think I will use this new route...looks like it will cut off decent mileage and gobs of traffic.:jumpingbe

Thanks for the MAP...it just needs to go a few miles north of the turnpike so I can see where 27 intersects.

The Viking has honored me
with a bad rhyme!
His words are quite witty,
His message sublime.

We wander off topic,
A certain digression.
And though we're myopic,
We don't need repression!

just a little mini report: The Western Way is AWESOME! Shaved at least 20 minutes off our trip, it is easily marked and we only counted one other car on the whole toll while we were on it. It is a piece of cake. DH is bowing before me, seems I have earned some extra brownie points by keeping him of I-4 during rushhour this am.:worship: Don't worry, I plan on cashing those in at DTD! :D

Well, this is just the best thread I have read all week, no offense to any other threads but.....its got Tooneric, bad poetry, a map for a quicker ride to my favorite place and an eyewitness report from Rozzie that it works great! What more could anyone ask for??? :jester:  :viking: :sunny:

Good to see you back, Toon!!!!!!

Wow, it's great to see so many familiar faces! Okay, I can't really see your faces, but even the TTA Lady's face is here now! What a way to wake up! One more day till I saddle up and take the Great Western Way!

Rozzie, is it marked as the Western Way, WDW exit, or should I write down the exit number?

I feel an inspiration coming on...

Faces, by the BaD pOeT

Wow what a way to start the day,
Your faces I did miss.
I'll bet the Lady on the TTA,
is blowing me a kiss!

I saddle up in one more day,
to the world I love the best.
This time I'll take the Western Way,
And head to Old Key West!

I would like some detailed (or as much detail as one can dish out) on this new route.

We usually take I-75 S to the turnpike to I-4 to get to WDW, if this new path can save us time and such that would be great.

Also how much is the cost of the turnpike compared to the one between 75 and 4? We have spent $3 each way before on the turnpike.

love the poem! It is marked of the Turnpike as EXIT 267A, you want to veer to 429 South (toward Tampa) then it is smooth sailing. Go to Exit 8. I believe it is says "Disney World", veer off the ramp. There are some orange cones up, (or at least for us) just go around and down the exit ramp and veer back left. Less than a mile ahead, you will see a big gorgeous "WALT DISNEY WOLRD" entrance sign you drive under. It is really easy!!

Cobbler, I think it was about the same, maybe $3 or $3.50. It is so worth it! You will be amazed!!!!!!!

So is it 2 turnpikes you end up on then?

Take I-75 South to the turnpike then get off on that other turnpike??

If I understand then you just bypass I-4 by going this route then yes?

Colorado Belle

Cobbie ...check the map that Viking provided in one of the first posts on this thread. Yes, I think you are right....you go from 1-75 onto the Fla turnpike and then take the exit off onto this new toll road and you save the congestion of I-4 and several miles.
