It's good to see Mr. Farrell around here. Glad you made it, RW. Love the "Dis Sucker" graphic.

The keg's always at my place, but for some reason, it's always empty by the time anyone gets here.

Just curious - why did you change the tag under Farrell from "I need more cowbell" to "Explore the space"?

Thanks y'all for the beer. Going "Home" after a day at the parks to a fridge full of cold Yuengling is one of the things I like most about being a DVC member. It's exceptionally rare here in SoCal (around these parts it's pronounced "dose ek-ees").

Had to look it up since I'm on the other side of the town and generally only travel west. I'm by the Nixon Library.

Awww, thanks for letting me re-watch one of my favorite SNL skits ever.

That was fun.

I've got a fever.. and the only cure.... is more cowbell.

(Good to see you exploring THIS space, rinkwide!)

Since you brought up Mex beer - I know some folks like Dos Equis, some like Corona... anybody else like El Sol? Maybe it's because I drank 'em in college and they make me feel young again (LOL), but I really like those. Can't find 'em here, though... only when I go back down south.

...some folks like Dos Equis, some like Corona... anybody else like El Sol?Haven't tried El Sol. I'll be on the lookout for it though.

As for Mexican beer in general, when you live in Southern California you tend to become an expert on the subject. Dos Equis Amber is an exceptional Vienna style lager quite similar to Yuengling.

Corona is a marketing phenomenon often drunk by posers trying to look cool. Example: We hold a blind-tasting contest during Oktoberfest with 15-20 one ounce beer samples. Corona is invariably rated at, or near, the bottom every year. People are always surprised because they often think they like it but really don't. Fortunately the lime tends to mask the taste pretty well.

But Mexican cerveza starts and ends with one brand, Bohemia; In my opinion the finest beer south of the border. It's got an excellent malt and hop balance that's not overpowering so that it remains quite drinkable. It's a "must try" for any beer fan.

How about Tecate - where does it rank?

And I agree - a good lime can make a bad beer better!!

This all reminds me of when I lived in Australia. THey thought all American beer was swill (but based on what few brands they imported over, I can surely see why! ) Meanwhile, back in the States, I still get a huge chuckle over folks getting Foster's and thinking they have true Aussie beer. Get yer mits on a Coopers or VB - that's good Aussie beer. Lots of great microbrewery pubs, too. Fosters, from my limited perspective, was more akin to our Busch (or even SML in a brown paper bag, LOL...)

How about Tecate...Fosters...Funny you mention it.

If, for some reason, Corona fails to win the booby prize in our contest it is sure to be claimed by either Tecate or Foster's. They're both awful. I'm surprised the marketing geniuses at Foster's haven't started suggesting you serve it with a lime wedge as well. It would certainly help.

It's too bad we don't see more of the quality Aussie brews here in the states (might be because everyone gets scared off by the taste of Foster's).

PS Next time you happen to find yourself in front of a bottle of Foster's check out the label to see where it's made. You might be surprised.

Because they can. How many Americans know it comes from Penn'sy ??

It is originally from PA (Pottsville), but they've actually opened up a plant in FL!!! And they still charge import prices. Unbelievable.

'round my parts we call it Pottsville Champagne. Well, maybe not everyone but DH and I do anyway. LOL :Pokepoke:
