I have two cars rented for my October trip--one with Alamo and one with National. I check the prices every week to two weeks, and if I get a better price I cancel one and rebook at the lower cost.

Both reservations have jumped up for the rental in October. I have a G6 rented through Alamo at for $147.45. Using the exact same codes, etc. today the same G6 costs $189.27. I also have a Monte Carlo through National for $134.90. That same reservation today (using the exact same codes, etc.) is $173.15.

Usually the rates go down until a month of so before the actual rental date. I'm surprised they've gone up so far in advance. I hope this isn't an indicator of things to come.

**note** the title of this was is SUPPOSED to say "Car rentals jumped up for October" not "fo October".

Some times I have found the closer you get they sometimes go lower.
