So we now know the "must see" things for folks, now let's see where you MUST eat!
For us it is Teppanyaki
Flame Tree
Artist Point
Teppanyaki
Akershus (although don't like it so much as I used to when it was more authentic)
Olivias
Teppanyaki
O'hanna (but maybe not now that they elimiated the shrimp)
Brown Derby
Teppanyaki
As you can see, we LOVE Teppanyaki dining rooms!

we LOVE Teppanyaki dining rooms!
We used to too but since they don't do the DDE 20% discount we have tried to stay away. So far two trips without Teppanyaki!:(
Our favorites:
Boma
ESPN Club (chicken wings)
Brown Derby (Cobb Salad)
Wolfgang Pucks (Downstairs)
Yachtsman Steakhouse
HBC

Chef Mickeys!
HOB this one is actually THE favorite! :)
Those are the MUST of must does. I like to try new places and have yet to try Teppanyaki but it sounds like I better! :)

AK: Flame Tree BBQ.... Rack off ribs, baked beans and corn-on-the-cob.
MK: Harbor House..... Fish and Chip platter.
Epcot: Teppenyaki used to be an always, but lately the prices have been rising and the portions shrinking. Also not included in the DDE. Still like to have sushi platter in the lounge. Epcot may no longer have a "must eat" location.
MGM: Ate at Prime Time for the first time this trip. May have made the "list". Food, atmosphere, service and price were great.
DTD: Wolf Gang Pucks, sitting at the sushi bar.Yum,Yum. They even take DDE.
Resorts: Spoodles used to be before they removed Orrachetta from the menu. Cal Grill. Breakfast at 1900 Park Fare @ GF.

Yes, I know that Teppanyaki isn't on the DDE card, but that porbably means we will limit ourselves to only two visits this trip! :)
We plan to do Le Celliar and Jikos fot the first time this trip too. I have to say that the Epcot restaurants have definitely been taking a downward turn the past couple of years. All the WDW restaurants have. Now with the new O'hana menu, it has been crossed off our "must do" list, and Akershus is now a sometime thing since they took away the true Norwgeian Smorgusbord offerings. We stopped going to the German one after they made it a buffet style too from the family style.

My favorites would have to be:
Chef Mickey's
Ohana (breakfast)
50s Prime Time
Hopefully I will add Kona to this list next month!!

Other than Victoria & Albert's, I have never thought of going to WDW for its fine dining. We always tended to go commando style, so didn't want to take the time to spend 2 or 3 hours eating dinner. In the old days we tried to do the dinner shows: the luau, Top of the World, Hoop-de-doo, but of course it wasn't for the food which wasn't all that good from the get-go. And eating at the castle when my d was little...ah, magic! (but again, not cause of the food.)
Perhaps it is because I live in a ski resort town and close enough to Denver, that looking for/thinking about fine dining at the world never really occurred to me.
I've eaten in most of the restaurants over the years, but nothing seems overly memorable food wise, except for V&A's, and I've only eaten there twice.
But I sure wouldn't miss my quota of DOLE WHIPS!

I agree with Colorado Belle, the food at WDW has never "wow'd" me. I don't have a lot of musts in this regard. I think living in NY and being near so many fine restaurants has me a bit spoiled. I have found most of the WDW food to be very "middle of the road", which I assume is so it will appeal to everyone. They tend to use little spices, or at least that's been my experience. I have also found the food to be wildly inconsistent--A restaurant that was superb one trip can easily be just so-so on the next one. So most of my favorite places are for the theming or the view, not the food.
When I am with my kids the must do's:
Chef Mickey for the parmesan potatoes which we all love. I make them at home too.
Sci Fi Dine In for the fun atmosphere (Love the scene when they stick the hugh hypodermic needle into the Huge guy) and the yummy thick shakes.
Cindy Castle (dinner, not character meals) for the atmosphere and firework view (if timed right)
Tempura Kiku for the sushi and Illuminations view (if timed right). Wish they took DDE though.
When I am solo:
Living Seas (I wait for a seat by the tanks, really enjoy watching the fish--although I always wonder if they know I am eating one of their "relatives").
Room Service!
California Grill (which I do think has very good food but the prices are ridiculous. Since my kids don't love it I save my $$ and just go when they are not with me).
Banana Pudding at the Main Street Bakery
With kids and solo: BW Bakery!

I am like Carrie and don't think we have eaten at many restaurants twice yet. With small children, fine dining is not our first choice, so we go for theming more than anything else.
I just keep reading and dreaming of a time when we can go somewhere nice for just hubby and I and then I realize that I really hope that won't happen for years. I love going to WDW with the children and while I hope they love it when they are older, I know for sure they are loving it now and I don't want to miss a minute! (even for a nice, adult only meal).

We try to do new restaurants every time we go so that we get a variety and something new to look forward to each time.
However every trip it is required by DH (I kid you not) that we have Chef Mickey's for breakfast. This trip in November though I got him to compromise and have Chef Mickey's for dinner once.
ETA:
For munchies we really like the popcorn and Mickey icecream :mickeybar

I try not to have too many must do's because that limits my new choices.
Jiko is a must do for me now. Le Cellier is too. Cosmic Rays because well, because. I have to do at least one character meal. 50's Primetime. Service has always been fun and food pretty good. Had Aunt Claire this past trip and she was awesome. I was her perfect little angel all throughout lunch until we were leaving. I thanked Aunt Claire for being so wonderful, etc. etc. and as I'm ready to step out, I say to her "Oh, one other thing Aunt Claire, that guy over there has his elbows on the table." I dashed out of there and heard her yelling at me "No one likes a tattle tale!"
My snack must do's would be a dole whip, ice cream cookie sandwich from Sleepy Hollow, a slice of pizza from Spoodles. On my last night, a chocolate mousse from Italy, and a glass of champagne to enjoy before Illuminations.

Well, I don't have many must dos anymore. Since becoming a DVC member, I promised myself I would try different things, and not always eat at the same places. So I have places that used to be must dos, but I want to try as many new things as possible. I'll be going until 2054 after all!
That being said, the 1 food item I MUST have, are those big chocolate chip cookies they sell at the Confectionary. They have them at Goofy's candy kitchen now, too, which is dangerous, since SSR is walking distance.

Most trips I hit Spoodles, Yachtman Steakhouse, and the Mitsukoshi Lounge (but heard that it changed recently??) I also stock up on hummous, pita chips, and zebra domes/chocolate mousse squares at the Mara.
Most evenings sad to say I also hit the takeaway at BCV for chocolate mousse or key lime pie, which are my new favourite desserts in the Epcot area. :goodvibes

I think I have a new favorite! We went to Ohana on November 5th and it was fantastic! Every single thing we ate (and there were 9 of us) was delicious, one better than the other. I was taking my sister and her family there and after reading mixed reviews I was a little worried but, it actually turned out to be one of the best meals we had and we ate a lot of meals in 8 days. An added bonus was watching wishes while eating dessert! Ohana is a new must eat at for us!

Our favorite meal for food on the last trip was at the Restaurant Marakesh!!! :bluebloun The bastilla was fabulous!!!!! There was a belly dancer during the meal, the ambiance was wonderful - and the servers were the most friendly we met the whole trip!!! The Morocco pavilion itself was magical - and the exchange student/worker who stamped our kids' passports was the most friendly of the bunch! We'll definately be going back again when we take our in-laws. And they have a 20% DVC discount!:goodvibes
I'd want to do the Castle again just for the magic! But with the prices..... I don't know......

50's Primetime Cafe... Love the green beans
We ate at Primetime for the first time this Oct. - loved it, but they shouldn't advertise it as " food like mom made" because it aint. If my mom had cooked that well I never would have left home at 18 for the Navy.
Anyway... the green beans: At the table next to us the young boy & father weren't eating their green beans. Their waiter asked why & mom chimes in with " welllllll, they don't like them this hard, they like them mushy'er". So the waiter covers them with a napkin and beats them with his fist.
Father and son both ate their green beans and I had milkshake coming out my nose.

That is hilarious. I'm with you too, AFMom, we love Marrakesh, and especially the bastilla.
We also love Boma, and had a fabulous time this last trip on our first trip to O'Hana, so we'll be back there too, but I agree with others - there are so many places to try that we don't repeat very much. And we're also pretty spoiled by the food here - we have an awesome variety of ethnic places here, which we love, so we tend to go to the places with great theming when we're at WDW.

It is not a trip unless we do....
BOMA, Flame Tree, Sci-Fi, Casey's, Kona Cafe (Tonga toast!!!) and Le Cellier.
Flame Tree is actually what we look forward to the most, we love the seating area on the water, overlooking EE, and dreaming about opening day!! :goodvibes
OMG! Almost forgot, Earl of Sandwich. We got here about 3-4 times a trip, why we love SSR!!!!!!!!! :)
we now have Brown Derby and Ohana's off our must do list. Last trip very disappointing experiences, and with the changes at Ohana's, that one might be scratched off for good. Brown Derby is still nice, we might just go back for the Cobb Salad and that's it.
we always try at least 2 new places a trip. V&A we only do every 3 years. Makes it more special.

Okay, explain grapefruit cake.
I know it sounds wierd, but it's great! The grapefruit part of it, is mostly in the creamcheese icing. There is also grapfruit juice in the cake as well. It's really worth a try, AND it is one of the original menu items that was actually served in the original Brown Derbys in Hollywood. Legend has it, the cake was invented for gossip queen Louella Parsons, because she was on a diet...hmmm..cake for a diet....go figure.

Disney Magazine had the recipe for the cake, and it is in Mickey/Disney Chef's cookbook from the Theme Parks and Resorts. I have made it at home a few times.
Brown Derby is also my favorite place, as is Hollywood and Vine diner at MGM.
The sweet potatoes with rootbeer sauce is excellent.

There are so many great places to eat, IMHO, that there's probably no one place I MUST eat at. However there are several places I usually gravitate to-Sci-Fi, B&C, Boulangerie Pastrie in France, Pizzafari (for the hot deli sandwich, and if I'm with DH, Gurgling Suitcase (for a Sultry Seahorse). But if it's a solo trip, I'm at BCV, so I have to stop into BC Marketplace for some pistachio gelato and another trip there for a chocolate chip macaroon bar.
We have a lot of "likely to dos" but in the last few trips, the only one we've been to each time is Artist's Point. We've become friendly with a CM there (he visits where we live on his vacation, so we get together at home and at WDW), and it always starts our vacation off right! :goodvibes
