Well instead of doing the add on that I wanted to do I finally was forced to turn on the new furnace. As some of you know I was going thru "new furnace resentment!" Keep my family warm in New England this winter or add on more points? Its in the low 30's this morning and the BC add on oops...I mean the furnace (grrr) is on. The sacrifices we make! :)

Yup, I remember you decided between and add-on and a furnace. Being from New England, too , I can relate. Well, I hoe the family appreciates the sacrifice you made, just to keep them warm :ROTFL:

I still thank a few extra layers would have done it.

Maybe you can find a furnace pin for your lanyard?

May your furnance lasts as long as an SSR contract.

Be warm.

We've had the boiler going for a few weeks now. So, turnign teh money-sucking beast, I mean furnace, on now isn't too bad. Still working on the radiant floor heat in teh bathroom. It's begun to burn the piggies. Need to fix that.

I would have gone with the less expensive wood burning stove add on and a smaller add on contract at DVC for my family LOL.

We have in floor radiant heat, and the big logs tend to hold heat pretty well, but it has been nearly a week of morning 30's, so we turned our heat on too.

I have never been so thankful as I am for the duel fuel system we have as I KNOW I am going to be after this winter with gas prices soaring.

Stay warm Jigger and just let the heat and warmth remind you of those future trips you will be taking to WDW in the Florida sunshine! :goodvibes

As the misguided owner of a wood burning forced air system to heat the 7000 sq.ft home on a mountain that I built.....I admit that it has a teeny oil backup that I have been using for years now. (something about stoking that fire every few hours rubs the wrong way.)

So now, hopefully, I get a new heating system. We have natural gas about 1/4 mile away. any advise???? Oh, re radiant$heat: I have 4 levels, two of them on concrete. The main floor is wood floors, but they do need replacing. And upstairs is all carpet.

Good ideas always appreciated.

I live in fear of the heat bill too. My heat has been on for 2 weeks now. It sucks!

I wouldn't know a boiler if it bit me, but we did turn the heat on this morning to take the chill out of the house. :brrrrrr:

I'm afraid our add-on fund will be going for hurricane shutters for next year. :umbrella: :hypnotict

Did it drop below 75 Mel? :ROTFL:

Sad to say, but those shutters sound like a good thing to me!

I feel your pain... our add-on that turned into kitchen counters suddenly became a basement remodel job, outdoor lighting, and bedroom set for the 5 yr old princess, LOL! Dash those darn priorities... We also are sort of holding out some money as a just-in-case because we have a very strong feeling our A/C will need replaced in the spring. So while you wistfully turn on your "add-on" this winter, I'll be doing the same next summer, I think!! :(
