Anybody heard anything about another ESPN weekend @ MGM in the fall? They have had these for 2 yrs in a row, usually the first week of August. I'd give my eye teeth for them to try the SECOND week of August instead....
Anybody heard anything? :idontgeti

Last I heard (rumors!) the last one wasn't too successful and it might have been the last. Hope that isn't true for your sake :)

That would be disappointing.
We were at the first day of the ESPN weekend last month and I have to admit that it didn't seem to be drawing in any extra-large crowds. I'm a sports fan but honestly didn't have much interest in attending any of the special events or buying any merchandise.
I think late-summer dates would probably be beneficial for the event. I know that when I was in college, I used to subsist on SportsCenter and other ESPN programs. 10-15 years later it just doesn't hold my interest. If they move it to a time when more teens and college kids are out of school, I bet it would result in a bigger bump in attendance.

Usually the August line-up revolves around college football. THe cast does their pre-season "speculation" during that wkend. My hubby subsisted on Sport Center in college too, tjkraz.... and still does. And now he has our DS11 doing the sammmmme thing. DS9 isn't so certain about it - he would just as soon be PLAYING the sport, not watching it. But DH and his clone - they would be in heaven.
Oh well. I have a feeling that even if they do have it, it will be about 1 week too early for us, based on years past. ANd if they dont, well, it's a moot point anyway!
It does seem kinda funny that thye would cancel the August one... and then rumors would fly about making a great big ESPN zone in DQ's house. BUt maybe that's as much about food and beer as sports, and those two items tend to have a "wider appeal", LOL.
