I haven't seen this or heard anyone talk about it before, but I got a purple hardback DVC book with nice pics and general DVC info in it today from my new guide. I called Monday to specifically request a certain guide since my old one left cause we wanted to inquire about waitlisting for a few more points. That was Monday. It wasn't until today that I gave my CC number. Very nice book! I love getting Disney mail! :dancingba

Welcome, Tissa! Good to have you here.

Shan, was it an informational book because you're looking at an add-on, or will everyone get it, do you think?

Wehn I went to the SSR sales centre last year to get my temp membership card they were going to give me one (but it was blue - if it was purple I would have snatched it from their hands! ;) )

I don't know why I left without one... hope that one arrives in my mailbox, though!

It looks like something they would give new members. It is similar to a thick paperback book (member guidebook) I got back when I first bought BCV, but way nicer. My new guide sent it to me two day Fed Ex. I could be wrong, but I think I just lucked up and he was being nice. He knew I was thinking about doing an add on. :woohoo:

DH saw one on ebay last night. It goes in five days I think?

So if I call and sort of hint about an add- on, will I get a book or will they know from the sound of my voice that I am still broke from moving a year ago and can't even CONSIDER more points? I swear I am too dopey for a life of real crime!

The great news in our house is that my parents just bought their Florida home, an hour from Mickey. Because I happen to be the proud owner of the only grandkids, I have an open invitation! My 390 points will seem like twice that now that we can spend weekends at Grammy's place... Plus my parents are so snooty all of a sudden and they say they "won't join us in the summer when it is crowded because they can enjoy the off-season!" Well... How's that for high and mighty, huh? They forgot pretty quickly the desperate claims of someone from 1,000 miles away "I don't care if it's 114 degrees out and they close the parks due to crowds, at least it's WDW!" With less folks to accomodate, I hope to just STRETCH my existing points... But I still want a purple book! :blueflowe

Oh, snap! Colleen - you mean if I'm broke I can't be doing an add on?!? Guess I better call my guide back. NOT! :D

390 sounds good to me! With this add on we'll still only be at 300. :crymeariv

I can't believe we can't afford more points given I went back to work this year at my daughter's preschool. It paid really well.

I pulled up that book again on ebay. I was wrong - it has six days left and nobody has bid on it yet. Starting bid is .99!

Thank You:sunny:

Someone had called me from DVC last week asking if I had recieved the planning dvd yet? I was then told that I would be getting some information and also being assigned a guide.

It must be to wow potential owners.

Is it the one that says Dream on the cover?

I got that book when I called to ask about buying my first contract. (which I did last month for SSR :kickingco )

I love that book! It's dreamy! The perfect advertising material.

Sometime my 4 year old will pick up the book and bring it to me and say, "Mommy let's dream." She's going to be as much a Disney nut as I am.

If anyone is successful at getting one of these new purple books without having to buy an add on or something let me know.

I almost have half a mind to have my mom request information so I can get the new book ;)

Nikki, that's just adorable! How cute is that.

My 4 year old has been reading Disney's Christmas catalogue for 5 months now. I don't think it's as cute, but it's certainly funny to me.

There's a Disney Christmas catalogue? I had no idea. How do I get one? I probaby won't think DD reading that is as cute as the dream book, but still pretty cute. Is it weird that I want my children to be disney fanatics?

Honestly, I have no idea how we got on the mailing list. It could be DVC, or from trip planning, or buying from the online store, I don't know. But it was a cute catalogue. We, however, buy almost nothing. I buy PJ's online sometimes, but we not much for merchandise, so maybe that's the funny part. She "reads" it over and over, but she never asks for anything, just likes the pictures.

I just got off the phone with my guide(I haven't bought yet) and she asked if I had recieved the book yet? When I told her yes and that my ds liked it so much he took it for his own she offered to send me out another one.:worship:

So my tip would be to call your guide and ask for one.
