okay, this is our first time, and just thought it would be nice to hear other MO's tips and plans for the weekend. I am piecing together tips from here and there, but am having trouble with organizing the day......
so this is our plan so far:
*arrive 1 hr prior to opening, then RUN to TT to get in the souvie line. We really want to get the DarthGoofy, (heehee, no not you DG.... ) and the defender of the kingdom Mickey large figurine. No poster for us. Maybe a pin or two. Maybe they will have some Sith stuff, more I mean. Last trip, we were disappoited again at the small selection of EP III.
*WWTBAM-Play It, SWW edition-
this sounds like something right up our alley! If DH gets picked, I know he would do outstanding. The boy is a walking SW trivia book, granted he can't remember to take the garbage out, but he can tell you each ewok's parents name.
*autograph's-
anyone doing this? I really dont' get into it. We might watch from afar, and take a picture or two. I hear some of the longest lines are for this
*Motorcar Parade/SWW-
Okay, heard 2 times. Is it 11am or noon? I heard this is not to be missed. we'll have camera ready.
*Jedi Training Academy-
No little ones, but I would so love to watch Stimpy's son get picked again!
Okay, friends, any other insider tips, or your plans for the weekend?
We are planning on Friday and Sunday. Skipping the big saturday.....

If you are going to try the Trivia Challenges (different than WWTBAM), you need to get on line for that first thing too. The sign up starts at opening, last year it was across from Sounds Dangerous and they give you a wrist band. The spots fill up VERY quickly! They have a kids one and adult one. Both DH and DS signed up for it last year...and DS made it to final 3 while Daddy...well....did not
We split up, since it was 2 seperate lines, I took DS and DH signed up on his line. We were there before they even starting taking names and there was a lot of people ahead of us.
If you or you DH want to do it, I would suggest he waits for the trivia line and you can wait for TT. He'll probably be done before you get to the door anyway LOL
Good Luck!
PS. we didn't do the autographs either last year. I don't even remember who was there the weekend we went but DS was too young to care and DH was too old to want to stand on the long hot line ;) We probably won't this year either.

Oh, and I just might have to get the Defender of the Kingdom Mickey too...he is so cool! :jumpingbe
BTW, we're going on Saturday. So I guess we'll miss you. :( Our flight gets in too late on Friday and my SW fans can't wait until Sunday.

great point Stimpy. Trivia is a must do. Did they have where to sign up for Trivia and other activities on the times guide, or on a map? Where about by Sounds Dangerous was the sign up?
I just read on another site, the parade is at 11am. WWTBAM will be first 2 shows.
Sorry Stimp we will miss you. I would have loved to meet up with some fellow SW geeks!!

For some reason I feel I must got straight to TT for a DarthGoofy plush:scratchch
After that, I want to just walk around and enjoy the park. This will be our departure day. The only other thing I must do is get my picture with Jedi Mickey.
I will probably pick up a shirt, and maybe a pin.
See you there :howudoin:

I guess I'm in the minority, but I don't have any real plans for the event. DS is only 5 and I don't plan on arriving an hour early, waiting in any 60 minute lines or dashing from one location to the next.
So far he's been referring to it as the "Star Wars parade" since I showed him photos of the troopers marching down Hollywood Blvd. He has pretty moderate expectations at this point. If we get a good view of the parade (which ought to be easy with the rest of you running between events or standing in lines :D ) and get some photos with the SW characters, I'll consider the day a success.
We'll try for the Jedi Academy when we visit the park earlier in the week. DS isn't a big "hey, pick me" kid, so chances are we won't even get selected. But I doubt he'll be too disappointed.
Since this is our first SWW, my goal is simply to spend as much time as possible soaking up the atmosphere and getting a feel for the event. As DVC members, we've got a lot more SW Weekends down the road to stand in line for autographs and trivia contests.

Well we spent the rainy afternoon here playing SW Trivial Pursuit. (DH won, but I impressed myself and DH to make the game intresting, 5 pies!:cheerlead ) We are hoping to sharpen our trivia skills by SWW. (total geeks I know)
We have been wanting to attend this event for several years, never could get the time off, and don't know if we will be able to get May time off again for several years, so I guess we are taking a slightly more "carpie diem/commando" approach. Plus we have no little one's in tow, which makes park openings a lot easier!
Tim, our favorite spot for the parade is in front of the busts. That way you are guaranteed no one to get in front of you and block your view!! JMHO of course!! Oddly, last couple of times, it fills up last....
I am trying to decide if we are going to splurge on the cell. I really love it, but for $200 framed, is a BIG splurge. We all ready have our heart set on the DOK Mickey. So many choices!!
