DH is driving me crazy. Looks like he is taking the full week for our trip, and driving down on the day my plane ticket (1 way) is for. Of course, I will drive with him, but am I doomed to eat my ticket? Does Delta offer a credit of some sort? Okay, don't laugh out loud, yes I said Delta.......

It depends what kind of ticket you purchased. Assuming you got a non-refundable ticket, usually an airline will give you a credit that can be used on a future flight with them. You should call Delta to check their policy.

When I had to cancel two flights last year, Delta told me that I could of course, re-book another flight. And they were right, but when I went to re-book this Spring, they charged me $50.00 to re-issue a new ticket. They failed to mention this when I cancelled originally. And I couldn't use the new ticket for a flight for my son, only for myself.
I am used to dealing with Southwest, no fee to re-book and use your credits for any ticket, any passenger.
I also don't like that when you call Delta, you almost always speak to someone in India. I prefer to speak to someone that I can understand, and not someone speaking from a canned script with a dialect.
The one time Delta did help me out was when Momma fell down the stairs on New Year's Eve and could not fly back home because she was in the hospital. They did let me re-book, any date, any flight, no fee, no increase in fare and guaranteed bulk-head or whatever seat was best for her leg at the time.
Hope you get this resolved to suit you.
