OK, I know you all are probabley sick of my stupid questions, but does anyone know if the Suites at Disneyland can be used with DVC point, and if so how many points, and DOes anyone know how point the Disney Cruise is. I am trying to get an idea on how many point I need to purchase if I do decide to buy a DVC share. Oh ya Thank you all for your patients and help. :hammer: :handshake

Most certainly not stupid questions, although most people here would tell you it's not to your best advantage to use your points mainly on dcl or dl.
You can find dl points here:
http://www.mouseowners.com/PointsCharts.html
DCL points really vary. You may want to contact DVC and ask for their full info packet (not just the DVD). This will give you all of the points charts and buying info.
Good luck in your decision!
ETA: DCL points go from 67 (category 11, value season) to 248 (category 4, holiday season) points per person for the first 2 people for a 3-night bahamas cruise.

How many points you would need for a cruise depends on many factors - How many people going, how many nights the cruise is, what class of stateroom you want and what season you want to travel in. So no-one can really tell you how many points YOU would need. BUT if you go to the homepage and click on the "planning a DVC vacation" link you will find a link to the point charts where you can figure it out based on your particular circumstances.
Ooops. thought DCL points were there too. Sorry. Ignore the above advice.
When we went to the presentation/ tour they gave us a book with all the points for the DVC resorts, Disney Collection, DCL etc so they might be able to send you one. The chart is too big for me to type in here but to give you some idea a 3 night cruise in a standard inside stateroom in value season would be 67 points per person (not per night) and a 7 night cruise to the western caribbean in a deluxe family stateroom w/verandah in holiday season would cost 428 points per person!!! The points requirements for a 3rd and fourth person staying in a stateroom are lower based on their age and your class of stateroom

Using DVC points for DCL cruises is not a economically equivlent transaction - look at this way - you would pay about $4.25 or so in dues per point for maintenance so that is a sunk cost
On the exchange into DCL, Disney roughly makes the points worth about $5.50- $6.00 or so each - in other words if the list price of cruise is $2,000 the points will be about 350 or so
Far better off to rent the 350 points for cash (rates about $10-12 per point) and use the cash to pay for the cruise
