First, checkin & room assignment: Checked in Sunday morning around 10'ish, room not ready. Checkin very smooth, no line, no hassel. Hit AK, called around 3, still not ready.Called at 4 from the quiet pool, room 412 was ready. My room request - made at 11 month window - was No Smoking, Upper floor and near elevator. 412 was non-smoking, 4th floor, 30 ft from main elevator. Bonus was that it was a pool view.
Room was a studio and in great shape. Only problem we experience was a slow tub drain & approx 50% of the time the toilet required an extra flush. We checked out of our room at 7 am the following Sunday. Called Engineering, informed them of the problem, let them know they had all day to fix it.
As for the BCV in general...... needs some work. Next time you're there, sit out on your balcony and take a close look at the wood and paint. Needs serious refurb. The hot tub was also a hit-or-miss. One day the jets worked, next they didn't.One day the water level was normal, the next it was down 6-10 inches.
The snack bar at BC is a great addition. The food is very good and reasonably priced. They also spell out in great detail that if you buy a Mug, you have free refills for the length of the stay in which you purchased the mug. Pretty hard to misinterprete that. Sure glad I can't read.
Trip itself was what we expected. Caught three wine seminars, spent too much money at the food kiosks and now have another "Must do" for our F&W trip; Party for the Senses.Incredible food & drink.
People kept talking about some woman Wilma but I refused to listen. Turns out she arrived the day after we left.
Good trip, used DDE, saved about $100.00 by doing so.

As Fred (flintstone) could attest: never trust a gal named Wilma.
I really wanted to do the 'senses' event...did you go? was it awesome? Details please!

Yes, DW and I attended PftS on Saturday nite. Started out with reserve seating for the Eat to the Beat concert with The Gap Band. Not a big fan of TGB, but they put on a great show, one of the best I've ever seen from one of these antique bands.
At 6:30 we were taken into the Millenium Village. We were given a neat plate that will hold your commemorative F&W 10th anniversary wine glass. Inside there were probably 50 locations to sample food, wine, beer & spirits. The food was unbelievable. All portions were appetizer portions, but you could return as often as you wished. Various Scallop & Shrimp dishes, various beef styles.
There were many tables set up, but there could have been a few more. Some peope/groups had designated table savers but we just wondered. When we needed a table, we just found a couple open spots at an occupied table & asked " Mind if we join you for a few minutes". Everyone was very gracious and I think it was actually more fun the having a table to ourselves.
Desserts looked incredible, DW says they were great, but I was too busy with real food. Basically ate for 2.5 hours. Had I been paying for each sample the way you do out at the WS kiosks, I probably would have spent $4-500.00. As it was, the evening cost us $200.00 and it was money well spent.
They also have performers from Circ de Sol (sp) doing various acts. Didn't really pay much attention to them though, I was on a caloric mission and was not about to be detered by some 80 pound stick of a woman that could hide her elbow in her pie hole.
Highly recommend this event.
... a woman that could hide her elbow in her pie hole.
There's something you don't see everyday.

Room #412 rocks! We stayed in that very room on opening day at BCV, back in July of 2002. It was so exciting to be there with everything so new and shiny, and the location of that room was perfect... Right near the elevator and the laundry room :) I am glad you had a good trip. Thanks for sharing!

Laura,
If you are eating pie, what hole are you putting it in ?
BTW, unless they add nites, PftS is only on Saturday nites. We booked it for our arrival Saturday rather then our ending Saturday because we drive out very early Sunday morning. I'm glad we did plan it that way because by my estimation I had two bottles of wine, approx 1/2 bottle of Champaign ad 2-3 shots of Remy Martin & Hanger One products.
Not really condusive for a 5:30 am wakeup call.

we were also too busy eating and drinking to watch any of the entertainment and also spent our 2 and 1/2 hours moving from booth to booth and table to table

I cant tell you what a good time that sounds.... Ohhhhh I cant wait until next year!!! I can drink that much, and eat that much, really I can!!!
I will book it for the Saturday after the cruise, and not the night before the cruise.... I rather 'hurt' on the way home, than hurt on the way to the ship... lol
Oooohhhh off to see when this could be booked....
