I would like to eventually add on 40 more at VWL (course I think I'm gonna have to go on a waitlist if we decide to) and I'm wondering about this Disney Visa deal...

Is this correct?

If we pay with Disney Visa instead of paying with our debit card we can get reward points and zero financing? Is the zero financing for six months? I can't find this info anywhere, on the DVC website when I click on the ad it keeps taking me to a site to apply for the card instead of giving me more info.

This offer isn't for new Disney Visa cardmembers only is it?!?

It used to be listed under the "Offers" section when I logged into Chase's website, but I don't see it anymore. I know that the perk originally had an ending date of 12/31/05 attached to it.

One of the nice things about that deal was it was structured such that you could pay off the rest of your balance each month, excluding the DVC down-payment, and still avoid any interest charges.

Can't help you as to whether it's still in effect or not. :(

The $2500.00 limit is a bit of a bummer.

The temporary interest-free amount is only a percentage of the total purchase. We added on 60 points at VWL last month. Our deposit of $500 (made on Disney Visa) is interest free for 6 months, however the final payment (just over $5,000 also made on Disney Visa) is NOT interest free.

That's why it say "up to $2,500".

So, on a $5000.00 total add-on price, I couldn't put $2500.00 down and get 6 months interest free finance ? They would only allow, say 10% of the contract price ?

Viking!

You may have just solved a "hmmmm" moment in my life!

When our recent add-on was processed, it was processed at $2500 and then at another $500 or whatever the balance was. I thought, "That's weird." Maybe not. Maybe my guide thought I was going for the zero percent...which I wasn't. Just running the transaction through the plastic to get some rewards credits....

IIRC, the offer was interest free on your down payment of 10%, up to $2500.

Interesting that they cap the promotion at 10% when you really need to put 20% down to get the best interest rate. Promotional discounts are usually applied to the down payment, so that doesn't leave a whole lot subject to interest:

$98 per point

$19.60 per point down payment
($8) LESS Promotion
($9.8) LESS Interest-free portion
--------
$1.80 remaining down-payment due

C'mon folks, let me read this wrong so that I no longer have a "hmmmmmmm" moment going around in my head! :slyasafox

I was just happy that the interest free promotion didn't apply exclusively to SSR purchases.

Darn, I'm totally confused now. I hate numbers.

OK, can someone break this down for me more easily? What would be the best way for me to go about an add on then? I would like to put it thru the card so I can at least get the reward points. If I get six months interest free to pay off some of it all the better.

If I want 40 points at VWL currently now at $92, what would be the down payment? (I'm assuming if I go on a waitlist I have to put the down payment down now?) And can someone relate all this into whatever you all are talking about with the different percentages and such on the card? :scary:

AND! I just found out my guide left and I got some new one I've never seen talked about before. Would it be best to ask to get moved to another guide in case the newbie isn't so knowledgeable about this kind of stuff?

40 x 92 is $3680.00.

10% or 368.00 would count as the interest free downpayment. remainder could still be paid on the card to receive reward $$.

As for your new guide.... I doubt he is new to DVC, just new to your account. Our guide moved up the food chain and we were asigned another guide.

So none of the remainder of the balance would be interest free at all? I went back and looked at that link mentioned earlier in this thread and it says -
"This rate will apply to your initial down payment and add-on purchase for the lesser of $2,500 or 10% of your total purchase price."

So would only $2,500 (down payment of $368 included in that) be interest free and the rest ($1,180) be charged interest?

Or are they saying the interest free only applies to 10% of the total purchase price not to exceed $2,500? So really this isn't an interest free add-on, this is an interest free down payment.

I guess it is worth it to run it thru the card anyway to pick up a few more reward points.

I think I'm brain dead today. I'll have DH look at this later.

Last June we put the whole membership on the card, 200 BWV points.

When I made my purchase last month, I broke it out to a down payment (ck), portion financed and the remainder on the Disney Visa for the promotion. My closing is still another 2 or 3 weeks away, so it has not hit the card yet. I am under the impression that the amount I put on the card will qualify for that promotional 0% interest for 6 months. At which point I will move it somewhere else or pay it off (I recently moved the balance of this card to a new Discover card that has a 0% interest for life until the transfer is paid off. Granted, after a period of time I have to have 2 active charges on it per month, but...)

We bought 200 SSR points in Nov as part of the F&F deal. We didn't "finance" but charged the purchase on the Disney Visa in three equal installments--November, December and January. We didn't get final cards and "ownership" until after the January payment had gone through, but we had temp cards and were in the system day 1 in November. We paid the card off each month, so I don't know (but I doubt it) if there was any "interest-free" period.

Our guide (Randy Kruger) knew how to do it when I asked how to get it all done on the Visa when our limit was lower than our purchase price.

I say ask your guide how to get it done. He might surprise you with how crafty and smart he is, after all!:beaniepro

I did get my Disney Visa bill and it shows the charge of $2000 for DVD/DVC and at the bottom it say "qualifying promotional financing - start date 3/15/06 (the day I purchased) exp date 9/15/16, remaining bal $2000, deferred finance charge N/A. I still have about $300 on the card besides this, so I am not sure which my payments will go to first. I plan on paying off whatever is left for the DVC purchase in September anyway.
