Ok, first off I have a quirk. I want to stay at every resort on property I have been to all the moderates, 2 of the values and taking our first trip "home" to SSR this November. Hubby and I decided to knock out the rest of the non DVC deluxes with our points because we know we are totally going to get spoiled when staying at our 1 bdrm villa. Figured if we did that enough we wouldn't want to go back to a regular type hotel room.

So our next 4-5 vacations are going to be at the non DVC deluxes to get them out of the way.

There are 2 places that I am contemplating on for my 06 trip. GF and Cont in the Tower. For those have stayed, tell me the pros, cons, what you like, where would you stay and why?

Of course this is one of those personal preference things and what I say only goes for me personally. YMMV. Here goes:

I find the theming of the rooms in the contemporary TOO LOUD. I know they are redoing the rooms, and the new design is much mellower, but I am not sure when the rehabs will be done. (perhaps the tower rooms are done? Anyone know?). However, having said that, I do think the location is ace. It's great to be able to walk to the MK in 5 minutes, and having the CA grill and chef mickey's right there in the resort is fabulous (not crazy about the concourse steakhouse). The arcade is really good too if that influences you at all. And of course the tower rooms have a great view of the MK, always nice to fall asleep watching the castle change colors.

Here's where I think some people may disagree with my assessement, but I find the GF too snooty. I stayed there once, and it just wasn't "Disney" enough for me. No Mickey soaps even! I found the CM's and even the guests the least friendly and warm of any WDW resort I stayed in. I wouldn't stay there again. I didn't find the theming special, the rooms were OK but, considering the $$ they were nothing outstanding.

So if it was me I'd pick the contemporary, but in all honesty neither resort moved me particularly. However I think it's really neat that you want to try each resort once, and who knows? You may love what I didn't care for, different strokes for different folks and all that!

I'm curious to see other folks' comments, I'll keep an eye on this thread.

If you can stay in the redone Contemporary rooms, I'd do that in an instant. They look amazing.
I seem to remember on the other board that Tyler had said that GF had lost a star from AAA due to the front desk & Bell Services people.
