I know someone who works in WDW Event Services. I spoke with her earlier this week to get some of the lowdown on upcoming events.

The rumored Villain Party this October at Disney-MGM Studios is off. It was seriously considered for a while, but other things are more important right now. They may try and do it next year.

Right now there are plans for a Pirates and Princess Party at the Magic Kingdom, possibly as early as January. This will be an after-hours extra ticket event, like Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party and Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. And it will have a special parade (she didn't mention fireworks, and I forgot to ask).

There are also plans for some sort of Pirate event this July in New York City, in conjunction with the release of the new movie. She didn't give any details, but I suspect (and this is only my opinion) it will be something similar to the Expedition Everest event (http://www.channel4.com/news/content/news-storypage.jsp?id=305426) they had last month in NYC.

That could be fun. Although I hate seeing more special ticketed events - more $$$$$ when you've already bought passes.... But we really enjoyed the MNSSHP and are trying out MVMCP this year - so obviously we're suckers!

A lot of people on other boards will be disapointed that the Villains event in Disney Studios is off - of course it was rumor to begin with, but there was a lot of energy around that one. It sounds like 2007 might be a good year to try for a later October trip . . .

I don't mind the "special ticketed events" too much, we do attend the MVMCP, but it really bothers me the way Disney will over do them in an attempt to cash in on their popularity. You can't keep closing MK early 3-4 times a week for a two month period. It de-values my PAP's.

I don't mind the special ticketed events. My DS loved MVMCP last year. The pirate and princess party sounds like a great idea, but I think he would really LOVE a villains party.

I don't mind the extra ticket event so much either.

The thing I don't like is it seems that they don't limit the number of tickets like they used to. Or at the very least they raised the limit substantially.

Would this pirate princess thing be just during certain months like MVMCP or every month?

I would go to one just to try it out, my kids might like the pirates.

It would only be for one month, or maybe just a partial month.

Please keep us posted if you hear anymore on any of the events you mentioned.

I know that I would try out a pirates and princesses party.

Thanks for letting us know about these things.

Disney Gallery has some information up about the New York event. It's called Pirates in the Big Apple (http://psc.disney.go.com/eventservices/disneygallery/event_wdw4808.html), and is being held July 6 & 7.
