POTC to reopen July 7th

According to the CM's on the Backlot Tour at MGM, POTC is reopening July 7th to be on the same date as the release of the 2nd film in the POTC series

Not sure whether this information more credible than other information - it was stated publically to all the guests on the Backlot Tour tram I was on on Thursday March 16th

I think that's pretty consistent with other info out there.

I've heard repeatedly that they are currently working on general rehab stuff in the attraction, and that it will re-open for a couple of weeks around Easter with no visible changes. Then, when they close for another two months following Easter, they will begin to install the new animatronics and change the scenes as planned.

I know someone who works in the WDW maintenance shops, and he's been telling me from the beginning that POTC would be open for the April peak crowd. As stated, the first part is a general refurb, and when it closes again in early May they would work on the new additions. He said the final treasure room scene was supposed to be gutted and a Jack Sparrow AA would be installed there, talking to a parrot.

When is the April peak crowd? We'll be there the first week, but it looks a little less crazy than the next two. I didn't know it was opening again - maybe we'll get on it?

The dates he gave me back in early February were that POTC would close in early March until April 2nd. It would close again the beginning of May through June.

I also heard that the parrot outside the attraction was going to be permanently removed and a talking skull added to that location.

MousePlanet is reporting that PotC will re-open around April 8th or 9th and stay open until the 29th or 30th.

That is too bad! My boys will be upset if it isn't open when we go the first week of April. We will just have to keep our fingers crossed!

I'm going to miss not going on May's trip. I'll make up for it in Oct.

I was just checking the portal for the "This Week in Disney History" listing that I normally post over at the TNT web site, and looked up the rehab schedule and it says closed March 1 thru June 30, to reopen July 1. It also says that the rehab schedules can change without notice. :)
