Im still pretty much a newbie but learning fast thanks to all here on Mouseowners! :)
Curious to know which Use Year you consider to be the most popular and why?

I'd say my favorite Use Year is........the one on my DVC contract! :)
I wasn't too picky when we bought. In two years we've already used points in 4 different months, and I'm sure we'll continue to explore different times of the year.

We got our first points through resale, and at the point in time I really wasn't aware of the importance of the Use Year. We like to go to WDW in October and May, and luckily we got an August Use Year, which fits our schedule very well.

I think ghost1000 has been peeking into my mind!
We are also August UY and travel May, Oct and Dec. August works just great for us. We can plan a trip for May and bank by end of Jan (our 100% window) and then have plenty for the fall and bank leftovers again by Jan. We are usually in a banked point position.
A friend of mine has Feb UY, tends to travel at the same time as us and has the same experience with flexibility.
I had no clue about UY when buying - it was the one they were selling at the time and nothing was explained.

Not sure there is a most popular one - I wonder if points are equally divided across all UY months by resort thus all are equal?
Having said that , December works best for us as we tend to vacation in December or March or May that way we never miss our 100% points bank window
Cheers

I'm not sure about which one is the most popular, either. I have October because my favorite time of year to go is the week after Thanksgiving so I know I will always have the points before I want to travel. That being said though, now that I go more often, I am trying different things-last year I went for F & G in April, this year I went in March and am going the end of Oct for my 1st MNSSHP & F & W.
I wasn't familiar w/use years until I bought and that is the month my guide suggested based on when I like to go the most.

We have Aug. Works well for when we travel and for banking.
I really liked the comment tjkraz made. Made me chuckle when I read it

We took what they gave us (June) when we bought. We've traveled at different times. So far it's worked fine.

I would have to say (so far):
Dec
Sept
April
Aug
As these are my 4 use years currently.
I don't think I'll be adding outside of these UYs, due to the limits of my brain tracking them all!
Come on CASKBILL, release that management program already.

March has worked just fine. Bought a resale - happened to be March, and we travel at all different times.
Tony - I can't imagine keeping track of all of that! You need a wall chart the size of my kitchen. Not that I have a wall chart.... hey - there's an idea.........

I have a June UY. That is what they were selling and while I did pay attention to banking deadlines and such I didn't think I really had a choice.
If I could go back and chose all over again I would pick October, because we travel in October, or November/Dec or January.
Of course this could really change when the boys get older in school.
Right now my 100% banking deadline is November 30th, well we usually travel around that week so it's ok. I guess I would know a month prior if we weren't going to travel during that time.
I don't see us traveling anytime after January so at least by then I am still in my 50% deadline.
Ok that was a bunch of rambling but hopefully it helped.

I hardly ever see June use year contracts for sale on the resale boards. I guess you could interpret that two ways:
(a) so many people have June, that when a contract comes up, it is snatched up ASAP, or
(b) so FEW people have June, that very few contracts ever come up for sale.
Either way, buying resale for a "Junie" like me would be tough, LOL! We weren't given a choice - June was "it" for us. Had I been given a choice (and an explanation on how that might affect me) I probably would have stayed with June.... we usually vacation in August, so June is good! The organizer side of me, though, just wishes it were January. I hate thinking in half-years.... it would be so much simpler to just say, these are 2006 points... they start in Jan, end in Dec. BUt I guess if everybody was like that, Dec travel would be pretty risky, huh!

Though I'd love to see him here I think you're going to have to post this on another site if you expect Caskbill to read your request. :shhh:

I have a April UY and I rarely see it available in a smaller add on. And when I do its sale pending- I originally wanted Sept. but April works out great for me- My guide had the points only available in the April UY at my time of purchase and I did not have any patience at the time. I was also trying to recover from being ROFR' ed and was heartbroken.:boohoohoo: I know some of you here remember and were really my support-
I am a little leary and still too much of a newbie to be able to think I can figure out how to have 2 different UY's - :dunce: LOL!

About the only way I would consider a different use-year would be if it were a resort with a whole different intention - namely, say, HHI or Vero. For those resorts, I could easily see getting a Feb use year. We would probably tend to use those resorts when water was warmer - spring break until Thanksgiving at latest. That would compliment our June BWV points nicely. But chances are, I would still ask for a June UY on those, too, just for simplicity's sake in moving points around.
One question - if you have 2 UY like that (say, Feb and June) and you transfer pts from one to the other - do they keep their original UY or do they shift to the UY of the account they were shifted into? If it's the latter, I could see it as a way of eeking more months out of pts.
