My son just called. He's been offered an internship at WDW.

Believe it or not, this is what he's always wanted to do - since he was 6. On his first trip to WDW when he was 6, he came out of the Emporium with his little bag of goodies, stood in the middle of Main St., looked around and said, "Mom, someday I'm gonna work here. And LIVE here. I wanna make people happy here." (His exact words, I swear.) At SIX. Looks like he's on his way to doing it.

He and our DIL are SO excited. We're looking at spending a LOT more time in Orlando.

Forget the Disney part of this news. You should be very proud that he wanted to work at six. My kids don't even take out the trash. :burningma

Congrats!

I'm HOPING so! :hehehehe: DS and DIL are both Blue Card holders - they're on our DVC contract. Yee-haw!

My DIL has threatened to cut off one of DS's fingers if he rides Everest before she joins him. She probably won't move down until Aug. or Sept. because of her current job. (Yeah, sure, like he'll probably wait - he's a ride nut.)

It's always good to hear when someone achieves their dream. And at such a young age too. I hope he'll be very very happy working for the Mouse.

That's inspiring! Congrats to both of you!
My DS, who is now 8, has been saying he wants to work at DL or WDW since he was about 5. Right now he wants two jobs - a chef at one of the restaurants or a job working with the animals at AK. He's convinced he'd have time to do both!

Hey, since you've now got an "insider" to Disney retail... could you tell them "BRING BACK KID'S CLOTHING!" And nice quality stitched-on stuff, too, not just the cheapo t-shirts.

Tell them - if you sew it, they will buy.

I know I will.

Oh, yeah. We've already talked about that - back when he was in the College Program and working at the Emporium. He knows my feelings about some of the "less than stellar" offerings. And he agrees.

Our oldest daughter was a CP in 2004. That's the year we took 7 trips to WDW. I see many trips in your future!! It is sooo exciting having a family member working at WDW. You can visit some backstage areas. It is great to see. Discounts... you bet, DVC discount purchases too.

We're already duscussing an "after-Christmas Christmas". Since Christmas is the busiest time at WDW and we probably wouldn't get to see much of my son and our DIL, we're talking about getting one of the larger off-site rental homes for a week or two after January 1 - so we can have the whole family with us. If anyone has any good suggestions, let me know. And spend we'd some time in a DVC villa, too, of course. :blueflowe
