Has anyone heard if and when we might be able to check our points/contract status on the member's site?
I think it would be Soooooo great if I could log on, see both a summary, and detail of each contract, banking deadlines, expiration dates, reservations, available points, etc.etc.
I do recall reading that DVC was working on this, but cannot recall hearing when this might actually happen, or if any suggestion of that has been made by DVC?
TIA :)

I have no idea when things will actually improve like that on the member's site but I did have the opportunity to take a survey recently and I rated the website as poor and I got the chance to make comments why. I told Disney some improvements I would like to see on the site. I hope it helps :Pokepoke:

I heard the website would allow point tracking in January.

My guess is we'll know more about this...and perhaps many other topics...after the association meetings. They are only a month away now!

About those member meetings: does anyone know if we can get a tax write off to attend those meetings. Seeing as DVC IS a real estate 'investment', it seems that it might be possible to at least get air and car rental and meals covered. What say you?

CB, I commend you for your resourcefulness! Let us know if it works!
I for one would be so excited to see anything useful on the website, but I assumed that talk of it was in the same category as "DVC Contemporary" and "DVC dining plan" - it's talked about, but may never happen. I'm thrilled if it sounds like there might be an actual date for this to happen!

That would be great but I always doubt anything DVC says about the web site. But we can hope!

I know HBC. I believe I've been hearing about changes from April 04. I think the lastrumor came from a weekly meeting. Only a half step better than hearing from the guides. lol.

The last reliable information I remember hearing was from the '04 annual meetings. DVC reportedly said that some additional funcationality would be available before the end of the year. There were no specifics, but viewing contract status seems to be a likely next step.
That's why I'm hoping maybe we'll hear some updated info at the next meetings.
There was a post on "the other boards" from a member who attended the Member Cruise and this was one of the items that Jim Lewis said was coming. I can't recall if there was a timeframe put on it though.

A poster on another site wrote that he participated in a random testing of the phase 1 prototype for DVC's enhanced website. Some of the things available in the proto were:
- all contracts listed
- able to view all past points usage, including banking and borrowing
- on-line dues payment and payment history
- breakdown of annual dues components
- listing of upcoming trips
It's not everything that we could possibly wish for, but I think it's a good first step. And it's certainly very positive that DVC seems to be serious about expanding the capabilities of the website.

Wow! Not everything, but that would eb a VERY nice first step!

So if this is true, then the rumors of this being operational by the end of the year seem plausible.

Assuming that everyone's "Holy Grail" would be on-line bookings, I've always wondered how the 11/7 month windows would be administered. Could you start booking on-line at midnight ET?
That seems a bit unfair since some people would always be unable / unwilling to book online. So, is it wait until 9am the next morning--same time MS opens?

Interesting question .... my guess is we will have a few years, at least, to ponder this

I remember the information about the test of the site, and the folks who did it said it was a good start and was very good for tracking. My guess is that part will be available by January, but I'm betting on line booking will be a ways off if ever.

I'd be happy with the information being described for now. It's a step in the right direction. It would sure make it a lot easier for those of us who juggle multiple contracts.

Now I wouldn't mind being able to check available points and current reservation but I will not use the site to make reservations I prefer to deal with a live person. Working with computers all day every day has made me realize just how easy it is for things to get messed up and weould not prefer to make online ressies.

I have always kind of felt that way too. I just think there are too many members and too many options to get it done.

Very nice!! What I don't understand is why an online reservation system is so hard to get up and running. I can not believe they are using index cards when you call MS. Unless linking a reservation system to point contracts is the hang up. Possibly multple home resorts and use years make things a wee bit more difficult to program?
