Ok, last year was my first expirence for F/W. Basically my family just wandered around the WS and stopped at the booths to sample food. That was it. Seriously.
Ok, so mom and I are going this year. Thought it might be fun to try out some of the neat things they do.
When and Where can I find out about these things? And of course I need to know cost too.

Right now there is no new info out for the up-coming F&W. However, there are several sites that will give you a recap of what was offered last year.
I imagine most of the programs will remain the same, just time, date and cost issues will change.
They will also probably have different wineries present seminars and such.

Also, if it's just two adults going, I HIGHLY recommend doing the Saturday evening Party for the Senses. In '05 it cost us $100.00 each, but it is now an Always-Always type event for us.

our highlight was a "lunch & learn" last year. I think it was $75 a person, worth every dime. They had a wine served there that cost over $300 a bottle, and only 100 of those bottles were available in the States. It was the best meal we have had in about 10 years to boot.:chef:
I think the schedule came out in the summer?

Bummer, we won't be there Saturday. We check in Wednesday and leave for home on Saturday. Very short stay but hay, I will take it.
So when does this stuff come out usually?

I'm not certain, but I'd say at least 3 mnoths prior.
Also, things book up quickly.

Are the events held thru out the week? Is the Party for the Senses only held on a Sat. night? Me too cobbler no Sat. night for us- I will only be there a Sunday-Friday in October- 1st time to F&W!!:jumpingbe

Last year it was only on Sat. We stayed offsite Saturday and checked in on Sunday. Never again. Driving off property after consuming approx two bottle of wine and several shots of high test spirits probably wasn't the best trip planning I've done for a long time. Had to walk around WS a few times after Illuminations.

I am so looking forward to my 1st F & W:dancingba
I will be there over a Sat night, but am going to try to do the trip less expensively than in the past (new mortgage and all) so I think I will save Party for the Senses, etc for a trip down the road.

Tell me more about the lunch and learn! Do you know anything about the

Thanks

it was in the Odyessey building (I think that is the name?) anyway, the class filled up within 2 days of being annonced. I think all lunch & learns fill up way fast. It was a 3 course lunch presentation by a Chef from Vermont? was it? or CT? er, I'll have to get my info from it, but he was fantastic, and made with the kitchen presentation a 3 course meal from his menu. (think Emeril's set up like)
OMG, lobster salad with pine nuts, a soybraised pork with baby carrots for entree, and some type pear infused something for dessert. (DH knows how to say it all, he's a chef also) With each course, there was a lady there from her family's French winery there to present each pairing. Very intresting, as the winery has been in her family for over 5 generations, over 100 yrs, all going to the female matriach each generation. Even Van Gogh did a painting once of her winery. That is how spectular of wine it was!!
anyway, maybe too much info than you asked, I guess I got filled with all type of warm memories thinking of that afternoon. Can't wait till' next years schedule comes out!!:goodvibes

Not yet, but I have tried many different adult beverages at WS throughout the years. However, I will be trying as many different wines as possible in Oct while my other half is trying as many beers as possible.

While I haven't done the Party For THe Sense yet, it really seems like it's worth ever penny from what I've read about it.... Actually, it seems like it's a great deal for all you get.

I'm going to try to get into the PFTS on October 14 (if that's the Saturday). We'll still be off-site that night so to avoid KNWVIKING's experience, I guess we'll have to take a taxi! Just not enough points to justify a Saturday DVC stay yet. If some great AP rates come out, maybe we'll stay on property, but right now I'm thinking of Cypress Pointe thru hotelkingdom for Friday and Saturday night.

Well, I have a dilemna.
I decided to go to food and wine in October SPECIFICALLY to do Party of the Senses which is on Saturday.
And my poopie friends, yes, those Boardwalk Babes...are all flying in on Sunday and flying out on Friday. Where are they when they are needed, huh?????
So, Rozzie...now I am excited about these lunches...your description made me drool. So please promise me that when the events are posted that you let me know if the same chef/vintner will be offering some time the first week in October.
Now I have to pursuade Viking to come to Fand W in October, since he and DW are sold on the Party of the Senses already!
Anyone else want to let me 'attach' to their PoS group? I'm basically fun, tho I tend to get silly when I drink!

You know, you don't really need anyone to go to the PforS. It's just this giant mingle of people drinking and eating. My DH and I had a stand up table next to the stage and had folks stop by all night long chatting and drinking. He'd hold down the 'fort' (aka table) while I'd go and find another wine/food booth and then he'd go. He's not a Disney lover, but enjoyed himself so much, HE's the one to suggest we go again this year.
Anyone do the Aussie 'walkabout' last year? Everytime we went by it was packed, never did go.

Same with us. If they have it this year, we hope to do it.
We hope there is a PFTS on Oct 21.

We did F&W two years ago, but our experience was just like Cobbler's.
We do have rooms booked for October, during son's Fall Break, and even if he doesn't go, I think we will have to. I want to go to PoS. Do they always have the Cirque performers there. I have a program in front of me and that is what it said about last year.
Does anyone know yet when they open for reservations for this?
If I book it and if by chance we don't get to go, how easy would it be to sell my tickets? I guess they do it like MNSSHP, you call, order and then have tickets in hand in advance.

I think I read somewhere that they put POTS tickets on sale in June or July.

We did the aussie walkabout. We actually split a card, since by that time we both didn't need an extra 4-5 drinks. We really enjoyed it, and actually turned us on the The Little Penguin wine.
I think the key is (or what we found) is that we always did all our F&W walking about and tasting right after they opened maybe 1130am. We would stay till about 6pm and then leave. We have discovered that by avoiding weekends day/night and weekday nights, that we really had less people to fight and made for a more enjoyable time. Before when we went nights, we just hardly even got able to taste everything for the lines.

I love this event, and have collected all the recipe cards over the years. I have made quite a few of the recipes at home and they come out pretty good. My other half discovered Plum Wine a few years ago at the F&W, so every so often he asks me to get a bottle. Speaking of wine we had a great Riesling at Wilderness that we find in our grocery here in CA.
We have never gone to the cooking events at Odyssey, and now that you all mention it, I have to go! How far in advance can you make reserves, and are reservations allowed?
