View Full Version : What are the chances of getting tickets on the night?

On December 4th, my friend from Australia will be flying in to meet me at the Animal Kingdom Villas. She's never been to Disney (actually - I'm pretty sure she's never been to America before!) and I'm so excited about showing her around my "laughing place".

When she gets off her flight, she might be dead tired and want to slip into a coma when she arrives at the resort, or she might be totally revved from the adrenalin of the trip (plus, evening in Orlando is morning in Australia, so with jetlag, she might feel like going all night!) :bouncingp

Because it's unknown what she'll be up for, I can't go out and buy tickets for MVMCP now. I would only want to go if we could do it that night (to add to the WOW factor of her first glimpse of Disney) and of course, I only want to do it if she isn't too tired to enjoy it.

So what are the chances of getting tickets that night? Her flight arrives at 4:30pm, so she wouldn't get to the resort until around 6:00pm, which means we'd literally be deciding right before going to the party.

Thoughts anyone? :help:

No idea if you can get them that night. However, she's coming all the way from australia. Splurge a little!!! A ticket is only $47.95 (ticketsatwork.com). I'd buy tickets and be prepared to eat the cost if she doesn't want to go. Make her 1st disney trip special!!! BamaCbat

It shouldn't be a problem getting tickets the night of the party on that day. It's a week night, early in the month - that'll be one of the last dates to sell out.

I lean towards "she'll want to slip into a coma" idea. If you don't want to lose the whole next day of park time I would let her enjoy the AKV.
Is there another day in your trip for the Christmas party?

I have yet to attend an extra ticketed event and not heard them announce at regular park closing time that tickets were available for the event. Personally, the only time I think an event sells out is for MNSSHP on the eve of Halloween. Of course, I don't have any evidence of that.

Thanks everyone, that's good to know!

I suspect she'll be too tired to even consider it, which is why I don't want to lash out and spend $100+ (or in Canadian, a million dollars ;) ) for nothing. But if she does arrive, refreshed from sleeping on the plane and bright eyed and bushy-tailed, it will be great to be able to show her the Magic Kingdom for her first time, when it's decked out in Christmas lights. It would also be great to be able do a lot of the rides without long lines and to see the special Christmas shows.

Okay - so fingers crossed her flight is uneventful and she gets plenty of rest! Hey, she only needs to travel for 30 hours (including wait times at airports between flights) on a total of three different flights to get to Disney, she should be fine...
