Hey Mouseowners! I missed you all!
I have returned.
I need a vacation from my vacation now. Won't be doing a real trip report, because, frankly, it would be depressing. Wasn't my worst trip ever, but certainly in the top 3 worst. My father is pretty ill (rather not get into specifics) and he complained from the second we got there, until the second we got home a few minutes ago. I never felt like I was on vacation. Don't get me wrong, I did do a few rides, etc that make me happy. Spent a lot of time in Epcot (mostly alone) spending lots of time in Epcot is always a good thing. And I love SSR more every time I go.
Mar' I thought of you, saw Off Kilter and liked them so much, I went back for a second set!
ME was great on the way down, but never sent a bus to get us on the way back (they ended up sending a cab).
The hottub didn't work most mornings, I got burned to a crisp at the Braves game, I got 2 days of dining ressies & extra magic hours backwards and totally missed dinner @ Ohana cause I thought it was for Fri but was really Thurs. One of those trips where things just keep going wrong.
Oh, and in case anyone is wondering, I had 3 cigarettes Fri night due to stress. But I have not had 1 since and don't want to.
Sorry to be such a bummer but this didn't turn out even close to how I had hoped.
But please feel free to ask any questions about SSR that anyone you may have! I love it there, and it keeps growing:holymoly:
Turf Club will be open in July:doublejum
Talk to you all soon!

oh athenna, sounds like you really a hug.
I am so sorry your trip wasen't the best. Don't worry the cigs either. What is important is that your back to being smoke free. We ALL slip up once in a while. Heck, I had girl scout cookies for dinner.
Hope your dad get's to feeling better. Any news on the house?
Oh, where did you stay at SSR?
I hope you get some rest, and can start planning soon on your next trip, that will be the best ever!!

Hey girlfriend!
I'm so sorry things didn't turn out as you had hoped. It's so hard to be at a place you love and want to share and the person you want to share it with gets sick and crankly.....I hope your dad feels more like himself soon!
We missed you too! Glad you are home safe and sound.
Next trip will be better, I promise!
Oh Athenna,
Sorry it didn't work out as you had hoped and planned! Don't worry about the cigarette thing -- happens to most of us. Doesn't mean you are a smoker anymore. It means you were a "recreational" smoker that particular Friday night.
I'm glad your love of SSR continued to grow, and you enjoyed some time with Off Kilter and Epcot overall. Ya did a good thing taking your Dad to your happy place -- I'm sorry it didn't work out better though!

I think I can speak for everyone that has been following you to say that we thought about you a lot whileyou were gone.
Sounds like your trip was not up to your expecations and hopes, and we have all been there. That just means that the next one will be better. Sorry about your Dad, sounds like it just wasn't meant to be for him this time.
We like SSR, too. I don't understand those that have been so negative about SSR without having ever stayed there. All the furniture is from right here in my own home state, and I think it is beautiful.
I am betting the resort is really taking shape now that more buildings are open. We stayed there when the only ones open were Congress Park. Is the new sit-down restaurant open yet?
When did you discover your mix up on your dining reservations? Did you show up and they wouldn't let you eat? What choices did you make instead.
Glad you are back home safe and sound. And I also hope you are not beating yourself up over your Friday night smokes. Travelling is stressful and sounds like your situation with your Dad made it even more so.

Oh it is taking shape all right! It is just so lovely. I don't care how big it is, as long as I can still find my way around I'm happy.lol.
When you pull into the resort entrance, there is now construction on both sides. I knew about the buildings going up on the left side, but didn't really remember that there were buildings going up on the right side too. A CM from Bell Services told me that the new section will have it's own quiet pool. He also mentioned the restaurant will be opening in July.
here's what happened w/dining ressies. For some reason, I had it in my head that EMH for Epcot was Thurs (really was Fri) even though all the times guides and the stuff I had written down (but didnt look at) said Fri:headbange So I showed up for lunch @ Teppanyaki on Thurs. It was very quiet there, no crowd, so they didn't think anything of it I guess. A couple hours later, went back for dad to nap, went back to Epcot thinking it was EMH, it wasn't so we watched Illuminations and left.
Next morning, I realized what I had done, totally missed dinner at Ohana's cause my ressies there was Thurs not Fri, so of course I called and they had nothing, but we did get to eat at Kona instead. Then I ended up going to EMH @ Epcot on the correct night..lol.
no, I'm not beating myself up over smoking on Fri night. I won't do it again, the thought of it right now makes me sick.

Wow Athenna, so sorry it didn't go smoothly for you this trip. My dad would more than likely act the same way as yours at this point in his life/health, so I give you lots of credit for trying. As far as karma goes you did a good thing, so eventually you'll get some positive payback for it.
But I have to say I am (naturally) very pleased you thought of me when you saw Off Kilter and that you enjoyed them so much you went back for a second set. I am definitely thinking that when we all go 12/07 an Off Kilter show (or two) should be on the list of possible mouseowner gatherings.
I'll be wishing your next trip is twice as good as normal to make up for this one being such a disappointment. :genie:

Ya know, Athenna, I could definitely see that ressie for dining mix-up happening to me; I will have to be very careful...:upsidedow I am glad you got to substitute Kona though; I think their food is great also! I hope you catch O'Hana next trip!
You are also filled with courage to share with your internet friends about the temporary smoking slip. You didn't have to even mention it...that means you are sooo honest and I'm very impressed with that too:highfive: :grouphug:
The next trip is bound to make up for this one...you were very brave to take your dad even though his health has not been great!!
We are glad you're back to play with us too!:jumpingbe

awwww - I just saw this Athenna and I hate to hear that things didn't go well.
I got myself sunburned as all get out last year at a Braves game during this time, so I know how that can be. :headache:
*hugs* Glad to see you are NOT beating yourself up about smoking too. Sometimes it takes tasting them again to REALLY know you are done!
Here's to a much better next time! :margarita

Hey Athenna!
Just saw your "not really a trip report". Dang, I'm so sorry to hear about your vacation with your dad. Have a little patience with him, though. I think you were a wonderful daughter to bring him to WDW, and he's probably tellling all his friends what a wonderful daughter he has. What a crazy screw-up with the DME! When were they going to let you know? What a perfect ending to your already messed up vacation. Poor you! Just try to hold on to the "great moments" you experienced on the trip like listening to OK.
And don't under any circumstances beat yourself for those few cigarettes. SHIT happens! Part of living---so you dealt with it, and now you're moving on!
You just stay positive, girl! You are one in a million!
And I just made plans to go to WDW Dec 10-15 with my sister. Will you be there any of those days?
Glad your back--you were definitely missed!

No, I'm sorry, I won't be there for the Christmas season at all this year. My DBF and I are going 10/22-10/29 for the F & W Fest. Looking forward to that, though!
