Welcome to MouseOwners!

I think you may get more reposne on purchasing, so I moved it.

It osunds like you will be staying at deleuxes and going every year. If you plan on contnuing to visit WDW after teh children ar grown (i.e., you and DW are also Disney lovers), DVC sound sperfect for you!

Renting points is a great way to check that out, though.

LIving so close, though, you should know that just weekend trips will not be worth it, as weekend points are more expesive. However, if you look at the toal points over a whole week, it's very worthwhile. The best way to make it even moreeconomical, though, is to avoid too many weekend nights.

Make sure you check out What is Dvc? (http://www.mouseowners.com/WhatIsDVC.html) , if you haven't already, and let us know if you have more questions!

You're very wise to stay in a Vacation Club resort to see whether you like it (I know you will). Then it's a case of estimating how you might use the resort and when you might be coming. Do your own cost/ benefit analysis and see if it makes economic sense for you. Everyone looks at it differently so what made sense for me (I compared buying a DVC interest to buying a condo on Longboat Key) might not make sense to you. Look at it through your eyes and good luck!!!

Great idea renting somewhere. Stay at any of the DVC Resorts. Then schedule a SSR tour and also go and check out all of the DVC properties. Show the guard at the gate your room card and tell them you want to check out the property for a future stay or purchase of DVC. Your SSR guide may be willing to take you around to see the other properties. I'm not sure about procedure with that. Big thing here is this, SSR gets you 12 extra years, BCV & BWV gets you the great location at a small hard to get property. Really think it through because I suspect, very soon, home resort is going to become much more important. 7 month bookings will be much tougher at the small properties when SSR is sold out. Pay attention to the things your family needs when on vacation. Do you need or want room service, poolside food, valet service, to be near a theme park, sit down restaurants, etc. Even if you only use these features once in a while, you aren't going to get them at all of the DVC Resorts. I'll clealry spell out which resorts offer what if you would like. Good luck with this.
