If I were to transfer points to another member, would they retain my use year and resort, or become the UY and resort of the recipient of these points?
MS said today they would retain my UY/resort and said I needed to read up on the rules. Who is right? I always thought/read that the other way around!
:idontgeti ok experts, help!!

I wish I could answer this question. I have seen the exact question come up in the past elsewhere and there were DVC'ers that said it went both ways. I distinctly remember some posters saying that the points took on the UY of the member transferred to, not sure about the resort:idontgeti :hammer:

I have two member nos. with two Use Years.
When I called to ask about transferring my holding points, I was told by MS that I could transfer from my one contract to the other. The one receiving the points is a later Use Year and they said the points would then be in that Use Year.
I am waiting until later this month to see if I can use them for my May reservation. If not, I may do the transfer thing, and then I will know for sure.
I was told this by MS within the last 30 days.

I believe that this is an issue where one thing is supposed to happen, but usually doesn't, and the thing that usually happens doesn't always and shouldn't. Hope that clears it up.
Just kidding!
I think that the points are supposed to retain their UY and resort, but there is a glitch in the system, and they usually switch to the UY and resort of the person receiving the transfer. So if you want them to match, you could let it go. But you can't actually count on it, because that is not the way the rules read, and you could get a MS CM who goes to the trouble of correcting it. If you want them to retain the UY and resort, I've heard you need to be very specific about this in your call, and they can do it manually to make sure this happens.
I know none of this from my own experience - it's just what I've read, but I hope that helps!

This is what happens. We transferred pts out to another member and they went from Aug 2006 SSR pts to her 2005 (?UY) BCV pts. Of course, she wanted them to go into her 2006 UY (which I had told MS to begin with), so she called, and they complied.
It pretty much seems like they'll do whatever you want them to do.
Good luck.
