We did this tour 2 weeks ago when we were at WDW with our good friend Tropical Storm Fay. We signed up because my 6 yr old loves "The Land" and wanted to do it. The tour is pretty cheap and there are DVC and AP discounts. For 2 adults and a child, I think it as $32 or something like that.
Overall, it was good. The guide was good. About halfway through, my daughter whispered "I think this is a tour for grown-ups."
So...good tour, but not particularly interesting for young kids.

my kid is 11 and he liked it. I imagine it may go over a young child's head, but it was fun walking around and seeing stuff. I like the land ride, so behind the seeds was enjoyable for us

How long did it last? I want to surprise my Mom and bring her on this in December. I think she will really enjoy it, I'm just worried about how long you stand still for vs walking. Thanks

Your neve at one station more then 10 minutes or so. DD14 really liked it as dod I on our last trip. There are parts that are very hands on and cool for the kids.
I think ours lasted just over an Hour.

We did this tour for the first time last year when my son was 9. He really enjoyed it and asked to go again when we were back for Spring Break this year.
He really enjoys the behind the scenes kinds of things and this was just right for him. I will say though that a lot depends on the guide you get and the group you are with. The first tour was with a group of about 14 people with a great guide and it was fantastic. The second tour was with a terrible guide and a group of 5 and we had to basically ask questions to get information out of him - not good.

We are schedule to take this tour on our trip the last week of October and DD9 is quite excited. I'm hoping we have a decent guide because that is what makes all the difference. They told us when booking to allow about 1 hr 15 min for the tour. I will post an update after our our tour!

We took the Behind the Seeds Tour on Tuesday, October 28th.
DD9 and SIL 1 ditched us and went back to SSR for some swim time.
That left DH, SIL 2, DS2.75 and myself to enjoy the tour.
I cannot remember our guide's name, but he was from MN and
was really great, very informative, personable and energetic.
They reserved a stroller for DS, but he'd have no part of it
so he ended up walking or being carried for the tour which
lasted almost 90 minutes. We thought he'd be miserable, but
he really enjoyed it. Near the beginning the guide gave him
a tube of lady bugs and told him to hold onto them until the end.
DS was totally intrigued by the lady bugs and clutched them
protectively the entire time.
We sampled some fresh cut veggies, saw lots of interesting
vegetation, several hands on stations and fed the talapia.
At the end of the tour DS was able to release his ladybugs
onto a banana leaf because they a natural pesticide used there.
He was so proud of himself and the pictures came out great.
Very pleased with the tour and found it a true bargain.

Non-tour question... WHY did they get rid of the original "Listen to the land" song on the ride? It was pretty much the only reason to ride it over and over! *sigh*
I am so excited to hear all of this! My dd6 (she will be 7 before our next trip) has been begging to do this, and we were just unsure. However, after hearing this, we will definitely schedule it!!
Thanks!!!
