Have an appointment for my girls at the new Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique in April. I saw in the new Vacation Magic that there is a 10% DVC member discount thru June 15. I called back to add the perk, but was told that they have the DVC discount as good only for May thru mid June.

I told them Vacation Magic has
"Disney Vacation Club Members will enjoy a 10 percent discount on these packages through June 15. "

They asked me to fax it, but my fax machine is broken. She told me she would look into it and call back. (She was very nice.) Well, she called back the next day and I missed her call. I called and got another person who was a little rude. Told me I had to fax it or she couldn't help me.

I got off the phone and thought this is stupid - like I'm going to Kinkos for a tiny 10% discount, but I was a little irked and thought this was a mass email sent out and I probably wouldn't be the only one. I might as well take the initiative to get it straightened out.

Sooo, I called DVC and got a really nice person. She said she'd look into it and call me back after the weekend. She called back today and said they won't honor it. Told me to change my appointment to May. Well, our trip is the first week of April. She then said she didn't think it was even open then. Well, I hope so! I have appointments and my girls are pretty excited.

Anyway, I thought this was pretty tacky. I dunno...

So there's a heads up - no DVC discount will be honored in April despite the Vacation Magic email.

Now that sounds like very bad customer service to me!!!

I am sorry Shan. I understand that it isn't a make or break kind of discount, but if they printed it, they should do something to honor it.

Hope you all have a blast anyway!

Right. Obviously we're keeping the appointments, what would the 10% discount even had added up to anyway?

To me it seems rather insulting given the amount of money we spend there every year and they can't honor something so small - that was their mistake! Makes me wonder...

If I were you I'd just print the email, take it along, and assume it will be applied when you're paying. Let some manager try to explain to your face that VM had a misprint.

Have fun.

I just got an email from DVC to add on at VB.

Can't give me a crappy 10% discount, but they can take my money on another add on. Funny timing! :ROTFL:

Shan, I'm with Tim - print it out and take it and ask where your discount is - as for the VB - sure I am going to pay Disney $87 a point net for VB when resales are mired in the 70's - do I look that silly? :idontgeti

Now, I found the part where they told you to change your appointment the funniest - like duh, I am going to fly to Orlando to get my hair done! :headscrat

cheers

Grrr...... That just stinks. I would let DVC know. Really, it's their nistake and tehy should take care of gettign it honored for you. Probably not worth teh aggrevation, though, so I'd do the print and take option.

:ROTFL: Excuse me while I rearrange my vacation to get my princesses har done. Would that eb ebfore a CRT ressie? That'd be easy to change.;)

I have a similar thread going on that "other board". :zipit:

What amazes me is all the people that supposedly were involved in investigating the mistake and then to come back and say no discount...

I was told this even went to the DVC marketing department.

Really, really lame. It is not worth my time or aggravation, but I'm amazed at the bad show. We're about to spend over $1000 on food and souvenirs alone in a few weeks and they can't honor a few dollars off?

Lame, lame...

I'm sure they've made note on my ressie, but I suggested on the other thread Tim's advice - take a copy of the email.

That really is BAD customer service on Disney's part. While laws protect companys from misprints in advertising, the best companys honor them whenever possible. I can't imagine 10% would break anyone's bank!!

Wasn't there a Downtown Disney Hotel that advertised premium rooms for $29/night due to a misprint for a grand re-opening a couple of years ago? I think it was supposed to be $129 or something like that. They were booked instantly, of course, and they agreed to honor the rate for the first couple of nights.

I feel your pain & understand your aggrivation. I made a large cosmetic purchase at a local department store & opened a CC for there because of the 10% discount (would have saved me $25). I got the bill on Monday and they gave me $20 in rewards certificates. I called up their customer service, and was finally able to get them to honor what I had been told in the store (the guy on the phone said the 10% discount was over, they were giving reward certificates, that expire instead!).

While some people will tell you to fight to get your way, that doesn't always work. Being nice helps. I would take the add to the BBB when you go. i hope you are able to get the discount. I have been over there, and the BBB is cute. A couple of my firends work there (one works the register, one does hari & makeup, but both are "fairy godmothers in training"). It has been successful in the week or so it has been open.

Good luck! and have a great trip!

FYI the BBB is currently open 9:30a to 6 or 6:30p (I can't remember which). I don't know if they take walk-ups.

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique should have given you the 10%. They are new and it's good for business.

They honored the discount. I took a copy of the email with me and asked. They went into the back to talk to the manager and came back and told me that the dates were wrong, but they would honor it for me.

BTW, that place is gonna be a huge hit! My girls LOVED it. I'm trying to catch up on things, but when I get back in the groove I'll try to post some pics.

I just hate the "Bait and Switch" stuff that sooo many companies do. That is why I purchased DVC over other time-shares in the first place. In my state, the Consumer Fraud Protection Act does not allow this kind of stuff to take place. Since I don't live in Florida (bummer) I don't know the laws there. If you are really peeved, you could call the Florida Attorney General's Office to get a copy of any similar law there may be in Florida. Take that with you, along with the ad, and show it to them. Threat tactics, I know, but it might help you prove a point.:thumbsway

lenshanem: one of the gals I used to work with at TDS is in there now. Her name is Rose. How did they go about doing your daughters' hair & make up?
