I've had our photos from last year's Disney fun on our computer. We are now thousands of miles away from either resort and all we have are the pics and the memories.
I am not entirely computer savvy and have been unable to put the photos on CD. I always worried that something would happen to my computer.
Then the unthinkable happened. The computer died. A friend looked at it, and wanted to simply reformat it, losing all the data. I said NO! and we took it to the city. The technician said that he would try to retrieve the data.

Yesterday we picked up the computer, formatted with Windows XP instead of the hated Vista, and with all of our beloved photos intact.:woohoo:

I am now concentrating on backing them up on several different sources to avoid future tragedy.

Here's one of the recovered photos, from our very first stay at a Disney hotel

We went to costco and picked up a WD portable hard drive and store all our pics on that along with music and any other pertinent documents we may need. It was a 250 gig drive for 99 bucks.

Another thing to preserve your pictures is to load them up to a free website like photobucket.

You also can take a usb scan disk to walmart, ritz camera, wolfe camera, etc and they will copy them to a cd for you.

Lastly, ask any kid in your family to burn them to a cd for you.

I burn them to CD right away , Have them automatically back-up on my Extrernal 320Gb drive and also use Photobucket to upload most.

The neat thing is My new Phone has a One button Touch and it sends it right to my Photobucket account. If anything happens to my Phone my Pictures are already saved.
