Stays are $169 per night at Old Key West and Saratoga Springs Resort. Accommodations must be booked by September 27, good for stays for most nights between 8/24 and 9/27/08.

I believe this is the same rate as the AP discount currently being offered.

However, notice that folks can book online if they have the member's first name, last name, and home town!!

So, will the folks staying on the 40% discount get Carousel while members on points or the 25% member discount get the other sections?!! :Paranoid:

For a limited time, family and friends can enjoy select Disney Vacation
Club Resorts for just $169 per night.

As a Member, you have probably told your friends and family about your
incredible Disney Vacation Club memories. Now, for a limited time, they
can create their own vacation memories and save 40% per night on
accommodations at Disney's Old Key West Resort and Disney's Saratoga
Springs Resort & Spa.

$169 per night (plus tax)
For stays most nights, 8/24/08-9/27/08.
For a Studio. Ask for offer code NWR

Other room types are available, too! Don't let your friends miss this
chance to save money while experiencing the magic of a Disney Vacation
Club Resort.

or, will they get the choice accomodations advertising how great DVC is, while anyone who has already bought in has, well, already bought in :Paranoid:

If you were all about marketing and making the sale, what would you do?

I'd be inclined to say they get the good rooms as a marketing approach. But hey at least its our friends that get the good room not some random person who booked a value resort like they did last year.

Except that this is the same deal available for AP holder - and AP holders can book as early as August 3rd. Event that is better, though, than the random Value resort upgrades. At least AP holders are loyal customers.

From MousePlanet:
Passholder rates are available for late summer and early fall. It appears that both room-only and Disney Dining Plan packages are available. Rates are valid for stays with a check-in date between August 3 and September 27, and can be booked from now through the date of arrival.

The booking code for phone reservations is FKJ.

Sample rates include:

* Fort Wilderness Campsites: $42 per night
* Value resorts: $64 per night
* Moderate resorts: $99 per night
* Fort Wilderness cabins: $174 per night
* Deluxe Villa resorts (studio): $169 per night

Not that I expect it, but dang I wish I could offer this to my friend who's going in October. Her DH really wants DVC but she's the holdout. She's currently paying for a Moderate in October. The sad thing is, I can't even tell you how much that is right now without looking it up. I know they don't even have much of a discount...just AAA.

Yeah, I don't know why it irked me so much but it did. I have no problem with it being an AP offer or even if they presented it as a prize or incentive or something but the way it was presented made SSR seem like a dumping ground for overflow. I understand it is a big resort and but they could have handled it better IMHO.

Does anyone know if members can get this discount as well? This is much cheaper then the members 25% cash rate.

TIA

That's a good question, and I've wondered the same thing. It would be worth calling to find out. It appears from the link provided that the only qualification is that the person has to provide member's name and hometown when checking in.

If anyone in your party has an AP, then the same deal is available that way, too.
