I've seen a few posts here mention new (?) kiosks at WDW that allow you to make your own CD. Anyone happen to know where these are rumored to be located? I've been keeping my eyes open for them, but haven't seen any thus far.

My undestanding is there is one at MK and one at DTD. I bet if you ask at Guest Services they can point you in the right direction. I hope you find them and can share information on the cost, etc., with us.

Hi Tim- :)
Not sure about the kiosks but I know they have a place in DTD that you can make your own music video. My dd and her friend made one on our last trip- They were able to choose a song and play the intruments "to" the music- but their voices were there own- It was pretty neat! I believe it is located across from the Adventurers Club- I think that it ran around $60 for the DVD-

not the same. This is a thing where you can make your own CD of Disney music that has not been released for sale. That is my understanding. I am hoping that some of the music is from the rides, and background music, like EPCOT's entrance music, etc. I am anxious to know just how much music there is to chose from.

They had them once before, years ago, and for some reason, they got rid of them. These new ones just came back in January of this year, I think, Jan or Dec, not sure.

I'm hoping to drive over to DTD tomorrow while the kids nap, so I'll try to ask around. Assuming Disney owns the rights to a lot of the theme park music, they'd be fools not to make it available for sale in some form. I've got gigabytes of MP3s I've downloaded from the net. As with most things, you just need to know where to look...

Let us know what you find out. For me, my faovrite music is really a lot of the atmosphere music. The kind of stuff that immediately transports you to a specific spot and point in time at WDW.

yep, me too, I love Tomorrow's Child and the Illuminations pre-show music, and all the Animal Kingdom music, especially that around the Tree of Life.

They had those in Disneyland before - a few years back. I was so disappointed when they took them out. I heard that they were back there again, though! What I really want it the "Believe - There's Magic in the Stars" fireworks music from DL. I get goosepipmples just thinking of it.

There is a CD with music from the Animal Kingdom. I got mine at DTD in WOD, I believe. I listen to those songs daily. I especially love the music aroaund the Tree of Life.

Ok, I found the kiosk at Downtown Disney. It is in the toy store, about halfway through where they have all of the CDs, DVDs and video games for sale.
Sadly (from my POV) the kiosk didn't contain any WDW/DL atmosphere music or attraction audio that hasn't been previously released. It appears to be entirely CDs (albums) that have been out of print for years.
I'm doing this from memory, so forgive me if your experience varies slightly. When you begin, you are presented with three options: browse categories, search or most popular.
Under browse categories, there were four different sub-categories available. The only one I really looked at was the theme park music. I'm sure the others had to do with Disney TV, films and animation in some fashion. But it was clear that only the one category would have Disney park music.
Under that category, I was basically presented with 12 different CD covers from which to select. Here are shots of the actual menus from my cameraphone:

These all appear to be titles that have been out-of-print for a number of years, but I suspect most of the tunes are available in some other Disney compilation like the "Happiest Celebration" collection currently available. Sadly, I didn't see anything that really caught my attention.
The kiosk is completely touch-screen. You can view a list of songs on each CD and even play sample clips. The one thing that I DON'T know if you can do or not is pick and choose songs from different CDs. The layout of the menus and a comment a CM made to me leads me to believe that the only option may be to buy an entire CD as presented. (The CM made a comment to me about having some of the CDs already burned at the counter from their test runs using the equipment.)
I also couldn't comment on pricing. Didn't even think to go that far.
Hope that helps a little bit.

Tim, thanks for all your information. I have to say that I am disappointed, too. The only one I see that possibly might be of interest is Meet Me Down on Main Street. That might have a lot of the turn of the century music that you hear/heard while walking down on Main Street.
:ROTFL: I can't tell you how hard I tried to click on the pictures from your camera phone to see what was ont he CD's.
Sorry you were diappointed, too, but at least you now know you didn't miss out on anything.
Thanks for tracking this down, I will probably check out that one CD when I get there in May.
I haven't checked other threads, but you must be home safe and sound, and I am sure already thinking ahead to your next trip.
thanks also for taking the time post while you were there. I really enjoyed YOUR trip.:blueflowe

Wow, it sounds like these are not half as nice as the ones they had in 2000. Bummer!

Thanks for taking the time to post the photos. This is pretty much what's available at Disneyland.
I think Disney is avoiding maximizing the use of technology and missing out on potential sales by not allowing you to choose individual tracks from various CDs to burn your own.
Also, given that it's not too hard to find background music loops on the internet, you'd think they'd jump ahead of the curve and make some of their more popular tracks available. Oh well.
