Thanks for the pictures.
I'm not all that familiar with AKV. The giant S like shape is the main section of AKV (Kidani Village) correct? The part near that, is that AKL?
If so AKV is much closer to the main hotel than I thought or at least it appears that way.

Dave,
The new Kidani section is shaped like a big scipt E (unless you fly the helecopter to the other side... and then it looks like a 3). :)
Yes... it is pretty close to the lodge building... but these are all huge buildings... so "close" is a relative term.

It really is starting to look like something. I wonder how much will be done by May 1.

In looking at the excellent pictures, I noticed that the section of the resort that is furthest around doesn't appear to have a lot of area for parking. It almost seems that the parking area ends near what looks to be the main entrance in the middle, and doesn't continue around from that point.
Is this an ariel illusion or are those rooms going to require some walking?

Very nice pics. I love seeing the overhead shots like that, gives you a real good perspective of the resort.

Lower level of the villas will have parking, the second DVC with covered parking!

It didn't hit me until I veiwed the aerial photos just how large (and how much larger than the original AKL structure) AKV is going to be.
Thanks for the pics, they're pretty encouraging!

Hmmm.... After this gets finished, its going to get a lot harder to get reservations at Jiko's and Boma's. I know they are adding in a new restaurant as well, but it looks like this will more than double the number of people staying at AKL.

It is already hard. I've called fror ADR's before and have never gotten in. Granted, I only call a week or so before but I have gotten into others being flexible with times but not at either of those.

I thought the same thing handa. I suspect the looong walks people have complained about at AKL are going to be nothing compared to Kidani Village.

Yes, I can hear those complaints now. Long walks, no direct theme park access (or anything else for that matter), etc. etc. etc. We might as well start a thread now with the complaints.

LOL.
Makes me wonder about parking for the new Contemporary building (or whatever it's not supposed to be).

Or some caribou-like animal...( the Villa footprint)
That's what we heard when we were there in June :sunny:

Horns? Nah, I see them more as ears. And I guess you could see the near-circle of the lodge as a round face. Put it all together and I'm sure there is some kind of animal face in there. But, what? A duck? Rabbit?

I noticed the aerial pics aren't available at the link anymore and I didn't see them anywhere else.
Back when these first hit the boards here and elsewhere, I snagged copies for myself.
Here are the ones I have plus I've included the floor plans for the major common areas declared so far for Kidani (Community Hall, Arcade, Sales Area and Laundry). And an overview showing where in relation to the lobby these are located.
Apologies if I'm being redundant and this stuff is posted elsewhere here.

Wow the DVC resort looks huge compared to the AKL

So, it looks like the standard view rooms will be in units 62-69, with units 62 -69 offering parking lot standard views and units 62-65 offering pool standard views.
Given that units 64-65 are declared into inventory, I wonder if they're also going to be available for stays starting in May 2009? If so, then staying at Kidani Village before full completion might not be too bad. I had a fear of the whole northern wing being a ghost town, giving the resort an empty feel.

Wow the DVC resort looks huge compared to the AKL I think the perspective of the picture is distorting things. AKL was build with something like 1,300 rooms. Kidani will have about 325 "units". Even accounting for the fact that a "unit" can be the size of 2-3 rooms, I don't see how Kidani can be bigger.

Are you counting a "unit" as a 2 bedroom? If not I'm confused, I thought AKV was going to be bigger than that????????? Also, it appears AKV is a LOT closer to AKL than I thought.

Thanks a lot Mike. I thought AKV had a fairly large number of total rooms.
