Plan: Full day at Hollywood studios.
It's the last day of Star Wars weekends. What can I say we are a bunch of geeks and we are raising geek kids. Nephew1 actually wore a jedi cloak (ok, it was a Harry Potter cloak from Halloween that he recycled, but it looked pretty good). We went last year as well and had a blast. Arrive early before they start letting people in. Two Stormtroppers are on the roofs of the turnstile booths. They have a series of very campy jokes and one liners. 1st thought: holy cow is it hot, kids already complaining about the heat (Nephew1 is just cooking in the heat already).
As soon as they let us in the park, I head to rent a wheelchair for DS (she's pregnant and OB would only allow us to go on trip if we promised to use wheelchair and take it easy) and then meet everyone at the end of the street. At rope drop we head straight for the location of the jedi training. we succeed in our goal of arriving early enough to make the first row of persons waiting. Group is spread out in 3 different spots. Soon thereafter, a couple of CM's dressed in Star Wars type costumes are on stage and are mildly entertaining in a very corny way. Nephew 1 is chosen to give his best Wookie roar, which of course they overdub with the "real" thing (wins a star wars figure as a prize). Unfortunately, right before the jedi masters come out a CM and photographer take up position right in front of us and effectively block DD from being seen or selected for one of the lucky positions. I think I was more disappointed than DD. DD was picked last year and seeing her attack Darth Maul was one of the highlights of the trip for mom and dad. Nephew 1 (I guess the cloak worked) and Niece 2 do get picked. They finish the training and each receive a Star Wars figure for participating (Nephew1 ends up with 2 of the same and gives one to DS [who despite being a huge Star Wars fan was too big a chicken to try and get picked].
Rest of the day is hot but reasonably productive (Star Tours, Muppetvision (is it me or does the film need to be rehabilitated), Star Wars parade, Indiana Jones, Little Mermaid, Great Movie Ride, Toy Story, and RockNRoller Coast (x2 for the adults). Lunch is every family fends for itself in the food court area.
Dinner was from the food stand at Phantasmic. Major disappointment as the storm clouds refuse to clear out and the 9pm show is cancelled. Another show is tentatively scheduled for 10:30, but everyone is too hot and tired to stay.
Besides the next day is at the Magic Kingdom.
Back to SSR, everyone takes a quick swim at the Grandstand pool and then kids to bed and adults enjoy painkiller of their respective choice.
