Well I don't post much but I do lurk so I thought I would delurk to post about the trip.
Since we left a day early we decided to stay at Pop before starting our *real* vacation. I have to admit I am a DVC/Deluxe snob and my husband was whining about no valet parking LOL but Pop was clean, a bit cramped but all in all a decent place to lay your head down and dream about your DVC stay. We went to Typhoon Lagoon that evening and had a BLAST - I so love that water park. It was almost empty due to an hour long rain storm that ended just as we got there woo hoo.
The next morning we left Pop and got over to BWV by 8 am. I have not been a big fan of BWV and had tried to move to BCV with no luck - last time we stayed at BWV we had the 2nd floor room adjacent to the Big River Grille and had loud screaming drunks all night NOT FUN. This time I got a non Boardwalk room and hoped for the best and assumed the worst (we always get sucky rooms)
Imagine my surprise when our 1 BR was ready for us AND was perfect! It over looked the courtyard and the surrey bike rental. I guess it is not considered a boardwalk room but to me it was and it was PERFECT. It was room 4051 and it was fabulous!!! A few steps from the elevator and a view to die for!
I won't bore everyone with the details but I will say Toy Story Mania rocks!!!! My son also got picked for the Jedi Training Academy and that was super cool. Staying at BWV was so convenient for Epcot and DHS it almost made me feel bad at how much I loathed it last time...
Our final two days we stayed at CR in a MK view room which was spectacular. Next door was this big building - wonder what that will be??? LOL
The only negative was a rude *lady* on Spaceship Earth who let her kids take a flashlight on the ride and proceed to try and shine it in everyone's faces - I said something to her about it as we got off the ride and she proceeded to start screaming and use profanity at me and threaten to punch me and when my 10 yr old told her to be nice to his mom (I so love my child) she threatened to punch him as well.
The cast member was so shocked he just stood there - it was sureal. The nicest part was security took it serious and got descriptions of her and the kids and said if she was still in the park she would be escorted out.
Very strange. I mean isn;t WDW supposed to be the Happiest Place on Earth??
All in all a good trip and cannot wait to go back.

Never heard the term, but I understood it at once!
Welcome. And thanks for the report. I hope the next woman that hussy threatened cleaned her clock for her (and her little dog, too!).

Don't take it personally. She probably just heard the news about PI closing... and needed to take out her frustrations on somebody.

We had 4051 in Feb of this year. Great view and just steps from the elevator. You can enjoy your morning coffee on the balcony while surveying the boats. When the one to DHS heads your way, you have plenty of time to stroll down and get on board.
Not to mention late night proximity to the funnel cake stand.

I have to say I was amused/horrified more than scared of her. The fact that she was sticking her finger in my face, dumping f-bombs left and right and calling me names that start with b, c and w in front of everyone including her children (who acted like this was normal from Mommy Dearest) was amazing.
I only got irritated when she threatened to hit my son - and at that point I told the CM that I wanted security and would press charges. Like the typical bully/blowhard that she was she grabbed her kids and ran out.
All I know is I stayed calm and rational - did not call her names and it pissed her off even more and yes that amused me greatly.
One very nice man and his son who witnessed her son's behavior on the ride and her 10 minute tirade stayed to turn in a report as well on her and to confirm she was out of control. We ran into him and his son the next day and had a good laugh about her. I feel for her kids and anyone that knows her.

Oh yes the funnel cake stand - my son spent a lot of time down there. The only thing negative I would say is I miss the AKV flat panel tvs - the tiny tvs in BWV are a bit cheesy.
I am sure they will upgrade soon enough

Loved reading you tr. Good for you that you remained calm in the face of an idiot. Some people just can't be nice no matter where they are I guess.....

Thanks for the TR, Jodie.
I always like to enjoy other people's trips, too.
What an unhappy woman that was. If she's that cranky and obnoxious at our happy place, how awful must she be elsewhwere? Scary for the kids learning that behaviour!!

You really lucked out with that room, I had a Boadwalk view reservation last October and they gave me 5051 (I even semi-ranted about it here :innocent: ).

WOW I was wondering if 4051 was a grey area room - as a preferred room it rocked. Andd since I am not a BW View fan I would have been happy there as well

Mickey has some mighty interesting views on...well -- VIEWS. We just went for an overnight at Vero Beach and our room looked straight at the ocean -- it was fabulous. When we were at the pool, though, I noticed the rooms above us and recall I read here that those are ALSO considered Ocean View, even though you would have to lean over the railing and crane your neck to catch any glimpse of water other than the chlorinated variety... Weird.
I also have notice something I will call "The Disney Length of Stay/View Inverse Relationship Rule." My family has determined -- based on evidence gathered over many stays -- that the longer your stay, the worse room to which you are typically assigned. Whenever I check into BCV for a week, they stick me out in the 70s rooms, 2 miles from the main lobby and practically ON the service road (ie, highway). When I am just going for an overnight? I get a room just off the elevator with a fabulous view of the quiet pool! When I booked the overnight at Vero, I paid for ocean view... And as I was only going to be there one night, what did I get? A fabulous, head-on view of the ocean with a palm tree out to one side, close to the lobby and elevator... It about KILLED me to leave that room the next morning!

Geez - that nasty woman needed to be arrested & hauled off for assaulting you and your son! I guess she's used to beating a hasty retreat, and it's great you stood up to her and pissed her off even more by not dropping to her level :innocent:
I don't look down on people because they have to or choose to stay at a value resort, but I'm sure glad (with dvc) I don't have to! That said, I've chosen to spend 3 nights at All Star Sports in mid September with free dining....boy oh boy will we appreciate our October stay at BCV!

Its nice to hear there was a witness to this situation and that he was willing to stick around to give a report about it. Most people would have fled the scene not wanting to get involved. :burn:

Yea for the Boardwalk view ...sounds like it is the location to get, tho those late night rockers (and I mean rockers as in rocking chairs overlooking the Green) can get loud sometimes too! Mostly I think it's people from Jelly's who make all the noise along the BW...I wish they'd route them around the back way so they don't LINGER on the boardwalk, as I sleep with my door open and hear every drunken word. But it's a trade off, for me, cuz I sure do love the view!
Hope security caught up with that woman and handily escorted her from the premises.

Great trip report.
And that did take a lot of restraint to not to slug that horrid excuse for a human being.
Not sure what I would do in that situation. Probably take her photo and post it here so everyone could keep a look out for Public Enemy #1!

No worries, as a Public Service, and an added benefit for all MouseOwners, I will look down on people staying by choice or circumstance at a value resort.
Even DVCers who are 'slumming'

Two options for future incounters of the 3rd kind......
1) Record this idiot's rant with your celli, and post on YouTube. It is a gift (revenge) that will just keep on giving and giving. Even if you don't have a video or even picture phone, it doesn't matter, just hold it up and pretend to record. When your done, thank her for the evidence, turn to your children, and say (loudly), "aren't you glad that your Mom and Dad love you and have class, manners, poise and tact?" "It's a shame some people have to live in FEMA trailers this long after Katrina!" Also, "Isn't it nice that Disney allows free admision for the disadvantaged?" And finally, "We're adding your children to our prayers, sadly it's too late for you!"
2) I would have said (in the dark, during the 'ride')
A "Will you turn off the light or should I?"
B "I had a burrito last night and a turkey leg today, and I'm not afraid to use them!"
http://members.aol.com/z321go/FartFire.jpg http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/ed/Fart.svg/600px-Fart.svg.png
C) Sticks and stones may break bones, but I know http://www1.istockphoto.com/file_thumbview_approve/4571385/1/istockphoto_4571385_angry_frog_mascot.jpg greenban http://www1.istockphoto.com/file_thumbview_approve/4571385/1/istockphoto_4571385_angry_frog_mascot.jpg, and he's gonna get you for me!
3) After her tirade, I would have also asked, so when did husband # 4 leave?
http://www.ghostories.com/barrens/pics/trailer.gif
Anyway, good for you, sorry your kids had to deal with an obvious foreginer from Europe (Kidding Bavaria, jesting I assure you!).

In case my 'tone' isn't clear, I don't stand for child abuse, and that is what that 'lady' (so called, BTW) did!

Tony, I have a confession. We stayed 1 night at Pop on our last trip, and enjoyed it!
We even enjoyed our meal at the, (gasp), food court!
We're staying there again 1 night this trip!

Nick-
Don't worry; you are not alone. After I stayed at the All Star with my family eight years ago, I swore I'd never go back, even if it meant saving a few hundred dollars. HOWEVER, I am looking into staying there on our next trip so we can go down a day early. It is just too many points for a Sat stay, so it looks like Pop Century it is. At least it's a little newer than the other value resorts. I figure it is only for one night and then I'll get to enjoy OKW for the five nights after. The things we do for Disney! Have fun on your trip!!!

Jodie,
Sorry that you had that experience. There have been a few times when my wife and I have observed unfortunate behavior like you did. Usually its been directed at a CM and we've stayed to speak with a supervisor to validate their side of the story. But it seems that some people do melt down and act out to the extreme more often, even at Disney.
I really liked Greenbans' idea of the picture / video cellphone, just take a step back before initiating that action, like at arms length before recording! You handled yourself quite well considering the stupidity of this woman.
