The models at VGC apparently are open, and pics are available HERE (http://s44.photobucket.com/albums/f39/carswellkids/grand%20californian%20villas/?albumview=slideshow), courtesy of carswellkids!!

The villas look a lot like AKV in terms of design (though the AKVs don't have the window from the master bath into the master bedroom).

The style is Craftsman.

Lovely, thanks for posting!
The walls are the same color as our living room!

I LOVE Craftsman style! My DH & I would be looking for any Stickley pieces throughout this whole place. Wish they had rooms like this in WDW. I would love staying in a room like this, just don't have any future plans on going to DL.
I like the Mickeyhead inlays on some of the pieces.

Just a note: these are not my pictures. (I'm in IL, not CA.) They are a link to someone else's pictures. They are fun, though!!

I adore Craftsman! Our house was built in 1917 and I can see a lot of similarity in styles :). I really do hope that we can stay there in the future!

Great find Kim!

I I like the rooms!

But, I'm very confused. I thought you called this Craftsman style. It looks like no Sears that I have ever been to. Is this an East-Coast West-Coast thing?

We saw this in person at the member event. No pics were allowed at the time. Under the TV in the main room is the Murphy bed.

This finally has the more upscale feel to it that I expect from Disney. Still no duvets :tsktsk: but note the curved shower rod. Finishing looks more high end too. This and AKV say 'deluxe' to me more than the other DVC resorts, pleasant as they are.

This may get me back to staying 'onsite' at DL again in future; in recent years the DL hotels were no longer good value, but this has definite possibilities! (if I can ever get a studio at 0-7 days in advance :innocent: )

Very classy...kitchen is much better arranged than the DVC's in Florida :)
(and yes, I really do use the kitchen)

The murphy bed under the flat screen is a wonderful touch, making this 1 BDR comfortably sleep 5!

50 2 BR lock-offs... Kinda think the odds won't be good.

This fits flawlessly with the existing decor in the Grand Californian Hotel. The only real difference is that the bedding and wallpaper in the main hotel have Bambi on them and Figaro is on the border in these.

Its very nice, but it looks on par with current DVC accomodations at WDW. I dont see it as a hugh upgrade. The way some were talking I was expecting more. Not that I am disapointed, I would enjoy staying there. Its a DVC WEST.

These are my pictures, I toured the rooms on Saturday. While the pictures possibly do not show it well, these rooms are really elegant and comfortable at the same time. Easily the nicest DVC rooms I've been in.

Hard to capture that on film sometimes. I am usually thrilled with the level of accomdations. I hope the sandwich matches the elegance you speak of at GV.

thanks for the pics.

Thanks for the pics. We agree that they are the nicest DVC rooms too. We saw them back in May, during the member event. At the time we were told the stainless appliances may be changed out to black appliances.

I wonder if they'll still offer the other hotels as options now that they'll have this. 50 lock-offs doesn't seem like a whole lot...

It's a nice setup - my wife and I got a tour last week. We were in Anaheim for the first time, for a convention and stayed at the DL Hotel. Had a great trip, took the DVC tour on, I think, 6/27, and ended up buying into AKL! We're so excited to be members - we've been thinking about it for a while.

The show unit was nice. Still themed as SSR on the outside, but is GC on the inside. Our DVC Guide said that Imagineering had turned the keys to the unit back over to them just the day before. She said some things would probably change (the internals of the pantry closet were very wobbly) but that the basic overall look would stay the same. Very dark, heavy wood, beautiful lighting. My wife loved the 'window' between the tub and the bedroom!

They may stop Grand CA stays on points, but probably will keep DLH and PP as options, much like WL and BC are not avaiable using points since the villas at them opened.

Just my GUESS though ;)
