View Full Version : March weight loss challenge, anyone?

Okay, I'm a little inspired by Tim, and a little inspired by the Valentine's Challenge we had last month. That really helped me to keep myself in line.

So, I propose that we all set our own goals and keep each other accountable. I personally would like to lose 2 pounds by the end of March.

Anyone else in? I'll keep track if you'd like to join me.

Sure thing - it will go perfectly with our exercise challange!

If I get moving 3 times a week for 30 minutes (or more if I get so inspired) I sure hope a little weight will slip away!

I hate to be a copycat, but two pounds sounds good to me. I will be out of town twice and may have more trouble losing again because of this:scary: I am going to do my best to lose 2 with you, j :)

ok - there is NO way I am posting my weight in public - - - (I would KILL to be Rozzie's weight now)

That said, I really want to lose 5 pounds by March 5th. I haven't been watching things too well all of February, so I am pretty sure I can hit this goal.

:holymoly: maybe

if I would stop eating....:headbange

Cool! We'll have a good group, and hopefully some more will join us.

Laura, I hope you meant you wanted to lose 5 by the end of March - the 5th would mean crash dieting!

oh laura, I didn't mean to post #'s, I think I was thinking out loud, and I am a visual motivator, I usually post my goal weight at various places around the house. I am just used to typing it out. believe me I am NOT thin. I have put on 30 lbs in 2 years, and cannot wear any of my spring/summer panst/shorts. :scary:

Don't worry, Laura, I won't be posting my weight either, even if I were to lose 20 pounds:bugeyed:

This sounds like my kind of group. I have raced right by my all time high over this winter. I am now shoping in the women's section of the store :jawdroppi I really need to get some control and get back my life. Something happened with the second child and turning 40!

Put me down for 5lbs too.

Okay, so here's what I think we have:

jnrrt - 2
lllovell - 5
withdisneyspirit - 2
Rozzie - 3
Lisa - 5

Anybody else? I'm so glad to have you all with me on this - I was surprised at how much motivation it was not to throw the towel in before - I knew I'd have to report to someone!

I'm in! I think 2 is a good goal for me. Realistic, acievable, but moving in the right direction. Let's hope I do better this time!

Since I usually weigh on Wednesdays, Mar 1 will be great for my initial weigh-in! I will see what damage was done while I was sick and eating my share of Girl Scout cookies:jawdroppi :help:

Today is my 'eat light' day so hopefully, that will help, I hope:zipit:

Everyone do their weigh in? I actually lost a couple over the past week, but that was just getting my body back to normal capacity after the trip. I'm still trying for the 5 this month.

Last night I felt like I should have had a hot fudge sundae or something! Don't worry I was good. No crash diet here.

I did my weigh-in and it wasn't pretty:jawdroppi I should try for 5 too:worried: I did make one good diet move this am though. I made two lunches this week of tuna and I went real light on the mayo:blueflowe I am really going to try harder:handshake

I did mine, and I'm down another pound, so now I'm on the fence of whether I'm counting that toward my two or not. Hmmm. Maybe I'll decide when I lose another one. Really, eventually I'd like it to be 5, so another 2 isn't bad, right? I just like to take things nice and slow.

So, withdisneyspirit, do you want me to change your goal, or leave it as it was?

Rozzie

Since I did not lose a single pound on the Valentine challenge, I better play it safe and stay with two:hahahaha:

You can add me in....I forgot to post to this thread :o . I'd like to shoot for 2 pounds and KEEP them off. I fluctuate throughout the month. I weighed myself this morning and I was so mad! I've been working out 6 days/week for the past four weeks and the scale hasn't budged a pound!!!

So I know it's because I'm too carb heavy and I throw all my good eating habits out the window on weekends. I'm going to try harder b/c my clothes would feel better if I just shed a couple of pounds.

Thanks for organizing this jnrrt!!!

!$#$#&^$%& #$^!#$^#^$%^ )( *&(*&%&^#%^$!!!!!!

While it is a bad time for me to weigh in, I was 3.5 pounds over where I started teh V-day challenge and I had lost a pound in tehre at one time. I really did not think I'd been that bad. :(

I think I'm still going to keep my goal of 2, but have it be from teh start of teh V-day challenge. Just can't admit the scale was not lying this morning. Guess I REALLY need this. SOmebody pleasae just come and take the food away!

Okay, glad you're joining us, AmyBeth! The more the merrier (or as merry as as weight challenge can be, anyway!)

So we have:

jnrrt - 2
lllovell - 5
withdisneyspirit - 2
Rozzie - 3
Lisa - 5
Poohspal - 2
AmyBeth - 2

And Carrie, I'm shocked! I never thought I'd see the day that you would resort to punctuation!

Seriously, that's frustrating. Let's hope this challenge goes better for you!

It was the closest I could get to Yosemite Sam. Where's the frustrated smiley? I'll try to to keep my punctuation in check from now on. :innocent:

It was a half pound better this am, but I have a longggg way to go.

OKAY....I weighed myself and have my official weight. But I also tried on a bathing suit that I thought fit nicely in December and now YUCK! The other thing I did was measure my waist and guess what....even though I've been exercising like a crazy lady....I gained an INCH in my waist. :jawdroppi I am VERY frustrated to say the least.

Now I have to figure out how to drop these few extra pounds and hopefully slim down my mid-section? :headscrat

I'm going to try to cut down on sugar and bread. I'm also going to try to DRINK more water!!!! :worried:

Yesterday was good. Today, not so much. Not even worth weighing myself right now, but hey, I love the torture.

I did make a big move today. Day 1 of beign virtually caffeine free. The plan is a decaf coffee to feel like I'm getting my fix, then nothing but water and herbal tea (and a mile with dinenr). Let teh hydration begin!

(Of course, I was out of herbal tea, so it's decaf green tea. I'm trying though.)

Okay, it's getting to be the middle of the month. How are you all doing?

I'm pretty much right where I started, which is one pound down. This is not bad, but not great, and I'm surprised at how much trouble these pesky pounds are giving me. I refuse to diet, and prefer to just watch it a bit until I get where I'm going, and that works for me, but it's SLOW!

Any other updates?

Rozzie

I am going backwards. Four Words--Girl Scout Cookie Season.

I haven't put on any weight, but haven't lost any. Rats....

I am down exactly one pound. Kinda surprised about that considering the knee pain and the three day business trip where they fed me rich fattening foods:bugeyed: At least our Girl Scout cookies are all gone:crazy: :D

Vacation next week should make this all the harder...

I am puffed up, big and grumpy this week....so avoiding the scale!!!

So far, holding steady when I weighed last though. Better move up the pace on the old treadmill if I have not lost some when I weigh in next.

OK, I', down 3 pounds from March 1, but that was the high end of my weight anyway. I really want 2.5 more pounds to go, which would be 2 pounds down from where I started teh Beb challenge. MAke any sense?

I must admit I've had some help this week by stomach issues, though. Let's hope I don't just gain it all back. On the bright side, even when I didn't have solids, I took in carbs, so I hope it's not too bad next week.

jnrrt
03-17-2006, 03:38 PM
Okay, I'm happy to report that I'm officially down one more pound. So if I count the first one, I'm done. But I'm not counting it, so I'm halfway there.

Carrie, how do you want to me to count you? That's great about the 3 pounds! Do you want that to be your zero, or do you want me to add them all up?

And now that we're heading to the world at the end of the month, I may even pick up a prize, woohoo!

jnrrt - just put me as up 0.5. It may motivate me more.

BTW, I forgot to tell you abuot my new motivation. Was supposed to get on it this week, but illness and stress nixed that.

I just realized that I need at least 2 formal dresses for my Sept cruise (kind of like DCL better in that respect). I have a nice black dress that I can use, but I need to lose weight. If I can get down to a range that's about 15 pound down from now, I will let myself go all out on a formal dress. (That I will likely never wear again. Hmmmmm...) Still, I could justify something nice if I lose that weight.

I weighed yesterday out of curiosity (not my normal time); I was actually down 1 1/2 pounds. I expect to have gone the other way by the time I get back from my trip:teacher: I hope not though; I will try to eat light and healthy:chef:

Hey Laura, just think of all the muscle you're building, and how it's so much healthier, and how it's going to burn calories for you!

Seriously, there is nothing more depressing in this area of life than trying to lose weight after a baby - just keep on keeping on, and don't beat yourself up! It will happen as long as you keep trying.

Thanks jnrrt! I am not giving up, just feel blah sometimes.

I am a big woman, so I needed to lose weight BEFORE getting pregnant. Got a long way to go, so I can't give up. I do feel better right now than I have in a while (I could hardly move during the pregnancy without almost crippling sciatica pain) so that is a very nice positive!!! :goldfish: Just keep swimming!
