Actually I did vote yes!
In spite of the shortcommings (major ones), they only impact a limited number of rooms at limited times.
I honestly believe that for at least 75% (pulled number out of my, errrr head) of ressies, it will speed up the process, and lighten the call load on MS.
So, 75% of the time, I view it as a positive change, just like I viewed the non-smoking rule very positive.
HOWEVER, I still disagree with the way both of the changes were made, in an unfair and capricious manner!

I voted maybe, leaning towards yes.
At Christmas/NYE we go for a week. Calling every day to add another day really seemed to be a big waste of time and a hassle. None of my other timeshares require me to call 7 days in a row to get my week.
The only disadvantage I see are for the 3-5 day visitors at peak times or high demand view/rooms. There are only three weeks where I see this could be an issue 1) Christmas/NYE 2) Easter and 3) July 4th.
Now as far as room/views I see the impact on F&W festival weeks, AKV club level and BWV prefered view.

Thanks, greenban! I was actually in the process of trying to figure out where the heck the polls were posted to create my own poll. I suspect that there are many lurkers and quiet folks who will vote Yes, too. I've been saying it all along and 100% agree.

I voted Maybe, leaning towards yes. At this time I don't see it affecting me much except for the fact that we normally book 10-11 nights. So need to see how that booking works. I was given different info from MS than some have been. I also don't go during busy times but who knows in 3 years I may want to. In addition, I have SSR as my home so doesn't sound like it will affect me, but was thinking of doing a small add on at BLT, don't know how it will affect that. Guess I got to give it time.

Sure I like em, just don't see us staying for more than 7 days and I ain't picky bout rooms (except I do like AKV Concierge now) so it's no big deal. I've never done the call every day to get a room thing either, we usually call when we decided to go. I guess travel habits of folks will have alot to do with it....

Read here first: http://www.mouseowners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15952
Then here: http://www.mouseowners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15957
Short Summary:
Owners can book at 11 months prior to date of arrival (used to be departure) + the next 6 nights. Also at 7+6 months for non-home resort ressies.

Maybe, leaning toward Yes.
For me, it's likely to have little to no effect at all. In terms of the overall system, I think it will create serious problems for hard to get rooms or peak date accommodations. At the end of the day, I believe 99.9% of the people will get appropriately sized DVC accommodations whenever they want them, but not necessarily at the resort or with the view they want. For many of those 1/10 of one percent, I think they probably had a better chance under the old system.

I said yes because we don't plan on staying more than a week, we go during the low times, and we own SSR. I think if I owned one of the higher demand resorts and wanted to go during peak times my choice would be different.
I'm seeing the downside of owning a points based timeshare system as opposed to a dedicated week timeshare system. I've owned both (3 of the latter) and I can see the pro's and con's of each.
Now if I wanted to go to a specific destination during a specific time I would buy a dedicated week. The downside to that is if I wanted to come to WDW and stay onsite during that time there are no options for this.:headbange
I don't like having to compete for a specific week and resort and resort view. :headbange I can totally see how frustrating and stressful this could be for those who are going to have to compete for what they desire. I think our strategy of travelling during nonpeak times will be the best for us.
I dont think there will ever be a perfect system.
I voted NO because I do not believe this helps anyone at all... and it hurts small point owners... and people who want to switch resorts at the 7 month window. Given the problems we are already seeing with SSR... I think reducing the ability to switch rooms at 7 months hurts that resort even more than most.
I am glad that I own a moderate number of BWV points.

I voted maybe - really maybe. Our habits so far have been to just go for 7 days to WDW. Since we live within driving distance of DLR, we tend to spend more time there, even on points. We also tend to travel at lower demand times, plus it is usually just DH and I. We usually know well ahead of when we are going to go and that makes planning easier.

No, but only b/c it hurts your chances of a waitlist request coming through. All nights of the waitlist must become available for it to clear. At least, that is my understanding...
