This is our little place to let our hair down and just be, well, us! If you want to be silly, to spread good news, or maybe you could use some pixie dust in your life, this is the place. Come, relax and enjoy this community of DVC lovers! :cool2:

While you’re here, we’d like to introduce you to “The Nothing Thread.” (http://www.mouseowners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=47)Its topic is exactly as it sounds, Nothing. There is no off topic, as there is no topic. There is a “Word to Scream in Public for No Apparent Reason”, a.k.a. word of the week, given to us by Rash, our resident talking horse. Please use it often and in good health!

And don’t forget, The Closet. The Closet on the Nothing Thread is a place of refuge for Disney loving folks that need to get out of the real world (escape from work, in-laws, crises of the world). So, while you may be floundering with any variety of issues, your spirit can be in the closet with Starbucks (or Yeungling) in hand and good friends by your side.

If there’s something, or nothing, you’ve just got to say, say it on the Nothing Thread. All are welcome!!! So, please pop right in, say hi, and ramble with us on our endless journey to Nothing!:coolcar:

We hope you enjoy your stay!! :bouncingm

Welcome, bmupcpn. :howudoin:

Make sure you check out this article on the MouseOwners website:

http://www.mouseowners.com/RentingPoints.html

That should cover the basics for you. If you have additional questions, feel free to create a new topic and ask-away.

Requests to rent points can be posted in the "Rent / Trade" board. That's where current members look to find people who are interested in renting.

Good luck!

Hi there - have just joined this site. My family have been DVC members since 1998 and have managed to get to Boardwalk three times. It is our favourite place. We are planning a big trip with all the kids, grandkids in 2008 for our 60th birthdays (hubby is one month older than me!). I am very envious of all who can get to Micky a couple of times a year. We have used some points for a trip to New York and also a weekend at the Dorchester Hotel in London.

Hi All!
I am a newbie to this board. I heard about this place from another 'friendly' board. I am thinking (I am sure, but hubby is not) about a DVC purchase and was told this forum is the place to find out all I need to know about DVC so I can be convincing to my hubby when making him think it is his idea!
Really, we love Disney and have been 3 times in the last 4 years and plan to continue atleast every other year until my kids (7 and 9) tire of it. But then, I doubt I'll ever get tired of WDW, so it will probably pay.
We were to WDW this past June and stayed at OKW. We loved the feel of it, but didn't really like the bus ride we needed to take to get to the 'good' pool with the water slide. We're used to staying at POR and being able to walk everywhere.
Next time we go (May/June 2007) I think I'd like to rent points again and stay at VWL and make sure to go to one of the DVC open houses. I'm sure that will put DH over the edge!!!!:bouncingg
So, I'll be looking around and asking lots of questions!!!
TIA!

DL and WDW are my most favourite places on this Earth and I cannot go one year without visiting at least one of them!

I am planning our first family trip to DW in May after DH is done teaching for the year. He is an Epcot veteran from when he lived in Daytona Beach for a year (school) and EVERYONE who visited him from the frozen midwest wanted to make the pilgrimage to Disney World. This time he will be seeing it through the eyes of our soon to be 4 year old DD. What a blast that will be!! I was one of those that made the trip to Epcot with him but I'm otherwise a WDW newbie. I learned of DVC when reading a Disney book on line and I can't wait to check it out!! I'm hoping if it is as good as it sounds (as I'm sure it will be) this will be a chance for us to check it out and consider buying into DVC. :bouncingp

Wonderful! :doublejum I hope you and your family have a wonderful time. Please, please, please take the time to make sure you plan a good trip. Nothing worse than anticipation of a great trip that is ruined by poor planning. IMHO 2 of the best tools for planning are www.tourguidemike.com and the passporter. Tour guide mike is a sponsor of this site I believe, and we've had 3 great trips in the summer using his strategies.
Again enjoy! We finally took the DVC plunge in January after 3 non-DVC trips, and we are anxiously awaiting our first VWL trip this June!

I'm new to the boards, I just joined this morning. I'm planning my family's trip to WDW in Dec 08. This will be our first trip with all of us. My husband and I went on our honeymoon in 92 and our boys went with their grandparents several years ago. Now parents, 4 kids, the other set of grandparents and maybe an aunt will be going. We are all very excited and can't wait! I was especially excited to hear about renting points. I was very disappointed last night. As I priced points for a 2 bedroom, it was way out of our price range for accommodations. But this morning, I looked into renting 2 studios and that is in our price range. Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!::jumping be:jumpingbe
I look forward to renting the points when the time comes.

Welcome to MouseOwners!

Renting points from a DVC member is a great way to experience a more upscale style of Disney vacation at a reasonable price. For some rental tips, I'd recommend that you check out the following threads and links on our site:

HERE. (http://www.mouseowners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14531)

HERE. (http://www.mouseowners.com/content/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=266&Itemid=150)

If you're looking for feedback on a specific member, for legal reasons, we can't provide or permit that. (This doesn't mean you can't try to acquire some personally, however.) However, I'd recommend that you do a search (see the search function near the top of the page) on that member, check on his/her postings on our site and his/her length and type of involvement in our community. That should give you a pretty good indication of what's going on, whether the person is a longtime member, etc.

Good luck!

We purchased re-sale because:

1) It was at the resort we loved the most.
2) The 11 vs. 7 months is a huge factor.
3) We still have kids so our travel with them is limited to peak season right now too.
4) We had the extra cash at the time and thought of it as an investment in our vacation.
5) We were also able to get more pts. for our money.

I hope this helps. Good luck

We picked Boardwalk for so many reasons and we found more the first time we went home. We have early teens so the Boardwalk is nice change for them. They have a little freedom but we feel save.

We purchased with the Time Share Store. http://www.dvc-resales.com/. We heard good things on the boards. They have a list for each DVC Villa. Some of the other sites had very low per point prices and were not able to tell me how many made it by Disney's Right of First Refusal.

Do the math. Figure: When you are going to be able to go, How often you can go (once twice, three times a year or like me once ever other year with the kids and once every other year without). Check the points for the resort you want and time and length of stays you want.

I hope this has helped. GOOD LUCK

If you purchase DVC (any resort) based on where your family will be the happiest? I guess that emphasis on family is what has most of us so enthusiastic about this subject, whether your family is you and your best friend(s), you and your spouse, or you and a whole gaggle of kids and grandkids.

Hey Mouseowners,

Im glad to announce that I have made my first DVC reservation!!! :wearenumb. We are staying in VWL for two nights on Feb 24-26 2009.
We are so excited, my wife and I, that is.

Member services were so nice and really made me feel like home, so I think we made a good choice purchasing DVC.

I hope to met some of you during the DVC Wednesday :bigear: We will assist that meeting, hopefully there will be one during our stay.

Oficially, we are now MOUSE OWNERS!!!!

Thanks,

Snoopey

Hi there - have just joined this site. My family have been DVC members since 1998 and have managed to get to Boardwalk three times. It is our favourite place. We are planning a big trip with all the kids, grandkids in 2008 for our 60th birthdays (hubby is one month older than me!). I am very envious of all who can get to Micky a couple of times a year. We have used some points for a trip to New York and also a weekend at the Dorchester Hotel in London.

regards
Glenis

Hi Glenis,
