Ok - a short summary -
We were given a "free" sailboat boat that has cost us almost $5000 with no end in sight. but we finally got to sail her on Father's Day and are now trying to come up with names. DH is a helicopter pilot in the Air Force, hence some of my ideas. Don't restrict yourself to the poll, though! If you have a good name - let me know!

I just came up with another one - and had to vote to see the redults anyway -
"A Slow Boat to Bankruptcy"
:D

Had to also mention that there are some very creative ideas over on the Nothing Thread.....

Oh no - I have not yet read the thread over on the Nothing Thread and I am already voting. I vote for "The Hole in the Ocean." It is an illusion to the old joke about what a boat is.

I voted for Sorin because llike the ride, it should be exciting and beautiful all at the same time.

How about "In The Red"?
By the way, our DS who just graduated will soon be taking his physical to sign up for the Air Force.
Did you enjoy your expensive boat outing?

Considering you're having to rent your points to pay for her... I'd call her the

Point Princess :bugeyed:

Too funny! yeah - most of my 2008 points went to the boat. Which is why I had to borrow from 2009 to get to go on a vacation in November! Shouldn't have done that either, though!!! We would have to rent a lot of points at this rate to make up for the thing!
I like "In the Red"! Very fitting.
Swans - we had a great time and will get to go out 1 more time before DH deploys - then she'll probably just sit on the water for 4 months..... ug. But really - it's so hot here in the summer, and so many thunderstorms - the reest of the year is better for sailing anyway (that's me trying to put a positive spin on things......):innocent:
I can't write the full quote here - but I'm sure many of you have heard the full version. As they say - if it floats or flies - it's cheaper to rent. Even if they say "it's free!" It will end up being a great investment if we ever decide to sell it. Especially once we get the cabin spruced up a bit. From here on out - should be just a lot of elbow grease (yeah - I know - I'm laughing at that too as I know we're going to dump a lot more money into that ding dang dern boat).

In light of future resale value, I (who did not actually vote earlier) have reconsidered my answer and voted for Soarin' --- no point in giving future owners a negative connotation about their purchase.

And happy sailing!

Yep - resale is an issue - we will eventually be selling it.
Daddio - love it!
Tailspin is cool.......
Yeah - how many points would $5000 buy right now????:crymeariv
In reference to the motor and gas issues - it has no motor currently. We're 100% wind power. We eventually want to get a little battery powered (batteries recharged by solar) put-put motor just to use when we're docking. Docking under sail can be a bit of a challenge!

DH seems pretty darn happy with Soarin' - it happens to be one of his favorite rides. He isn't a Disney nut like me - but it's subtle enough for him.....
Might have to order the sticky name thing to put on when he gets back!
