Please refresh my memory. If a new resort becomes available , and I wish to purchase while it is under construction, how much do I give DVC to guarantee my points and then when is the balance due if paying in full?

I know that somebody knows this. Come out, come out, wherever you are....

Honestly, I don't know. We bought our contracts in one lump sum. I don't recall them ever taking a deposit.

I may be wrong, but I thought that when we bought SSR, and it was still nder construction, that we secured our points with a deposit, and then nothing else was due until we got ready to close.
I would hope it would work this way with BLT and they wouldn't expect full payment at time of purchase if it is still under construction.

I just returned from a stay at POFQ and attended a DVC presentation Monday June 2nd. The terms offered at AKV included an $8 per point incentive in consideration that the points would not be available until May1, 2009. I believe that payment terms were something like 10 percent down and the balance in 60 or 90 days. Hope this helps.

If they do the same thing with BLT, that is a long time to hold onto my money before I can actually stay tehre, that is assuming that the July rumored sell date holds true and the Sept 09 occupancy date rumor holds true. I am not sure I want to give them all that money and have nothing in return for over a year.

If they mirror what they are doing with Kidani, they could offer developer's points that you can use elsewhere, while construction is completed. I'm not sure they will even have to do that, though. There seems to be a lot of potential demand for that property. There may be enough people willing to throw money at them and wait for the Sandwich Villas, that they won't have to offer anything.
I guess we'll see.

I guess we'll see.Supposedly, developer's points come from completed DVC units that aren't sold yet. Since SSR is reported to be sold out, where are the developer's points going to come from? You'd think they'd be pretty much out by now.
Anyway, I agree that they may not need to offer incentives for BLT (assuming it's DVC of course). If they do offer incentives, I don't see how they could offer developer points unless Disney starts a huge buy back program via ROFR to get incentive points. Somehow, I just don't think that would be very profitable!

I'm pretty sure when I added 150 points at AKV I paid in full when I bought them in early Feb, even though the resort didn't start taking reservations for a number of months later. The points are good until your use year ending date, or another 12 months beyond that if you bank them, so why wouldn't you pay upon receipt of the points in your account?? With having to make travel plans, I doubt many people buy points and expect to show up the following week - and WHEN you use the points really doesn't matter. If there's 10 years to go and you buy 150 points you still have 1500 points to use over the life of your membership.
