My DH and I will be visiting Disney in September, and I was wondering what the
"rules" are regarding pool usage at various DVC resorts. For some reason, I am under the impression that this is allowed with the except of the pool at BCV. We are staying at OWV. Also, does anyone know the policy on beach usage at Poly or GF resort? I would love to be able to layout one day due to the non-existence of a beach at OWV, plus I think it would be a great spot to watch fireworks at during the evening. Are non-resort guests able to access the beaches at any time? Please let me know if you have any insight on these questions.....Thanks!

Hi,
DVC Members have pool-hopping privileges at other Walt Disney World Resorts (excluding the Animal Kingdom Lodge and Stormalong Bay at the Yacht and Beach Club and Beach Club Villas), when pools are not at capacity.
As for the beaches, I'd assume it's access all areas for anyone staying onsite or not.
So, in a nutshell, DVC members have pool hopping privileges as above.
Other guests, onsite at another WDW hotel or offsite, have access all areas but not the pool.
Happy to stand corrected if information not 100% correct.

Also:
DVC Guests do *NOT* have to shower before or after using the pools (especially renters).
DVC Guests with open sores or other contageous illnesses are encouraged to use the Hot Tubs for hydrotherapeutic reasons!
DVC Member's children do not need to be potty trained, nor use swim diapers and may use the kiddie pools (only!) as an 'emergency' bathroom.
DVC Members may reserve both lounge chairs and umbrella tables (at the same time) by placing Pool Towels to hold their places, even if they leave the pool area for up to 4 hours
DVC Members may take 'extra' pool towels back to their rooms instead of buying a towel pack. Renters *MUST* buy the towel pack.
DVC Guests at BCV can sell their wristbands at the park for upto $55.00 each, and request new wristbands when returning to BCV
DVC Guest's children can use Hot Tubs and Whirlpools regardless of their age or health
OOPS almost forgot! DVC Guests are encouraged to smoke pool side or enjoy a cigar in the hot tubs at anytime!
I think there are a couple more benefits that I am missing, I'll check my POS and get back to you!
Enjoy!

if you are talking about OKW - it has a beach - kids play there but it is a sand area close to the pool. - it just isn't along the shore - okay not a beach.
besides skin cancer is the fastest growing cancer around - reconsider what skin cancer can do to you - before you layout in the sun.
if you must have a tan - get in a bottle (they are much better these days) than that a chance of skin cancer. (really these days it is not a chance anymore it will happen).

We've pool hopped to the Poly twice to enjoy the beach area and the pool. Wonderful location - and yes - great place to watch the fireworks. There are blackout date for pool hopping, but not in September. They tend to fall around high occupancy dates (ie Thanksgiving and Christmas, etc). SO you're good to go! Have fun!

Forgot to add - when we went (so that we didn't have to take our car) we took a bus from OKW to the Magic Kingdom and then caught the monorail to the Poly. The pool at OKW is quite nice - very relaxing - but you can't beat the view of the fireworks from the Poly.:woohoodan

How does pool hopping work? Do you show your DVC member card at the front desk? This is all new to me. Thanks.

first you are surpose to call the front desk and ask if you can.
then you just go - if asked for a ID -you show them your Key (WDW ID) that will say DVC member. but would have the blue card just inc ase.

Our first visit to OKW was when they were doing construction on the new pool slide there - we did swim in the quiet pools, but really wanted the kids to get to try out the slides. It was a lot of fun checking out the other resorts. We were considerring an add-on at SSR - so we pool hopped there and looked around (convinced us to add on!), went to the Poly and the Boardwalk as well. Kids had such a great time at all the different pools. To this day - they have the slides ranked as follows....
BCV
SSR
OKW
Boardwalk
Poly
Those are the ones we've tried, anyway. Oh - and they loved the one at Vero too (you can go mighty fast on that one!).
I don't know that we'd pool hop now - as all of the resorts have a fun slide..... :cheerlead

P.S. My family and I have pool hopped. Hopping seems to be second nature to us.....not sure why!

Looking at these two posts... I guess that is why they call it "Kiddy Litter".

Actually, I thought Labor Day Weekend was a black out period also. I got that from an old Portable Perks from last Sept. I remember it because we will be there this year and we were bummed. They also blacked out 4th of July week too.
