Haha - I got to be voter #1! Ian and I usually rent a week at a time OR we do one of the other choices that is not listed on the poll which is long weekends. We will leave DFW after work on Friday (sometimes staying offsite on Friday night) and then stay for 3 or 4 days.
We also will do a full week at a time. But not as often as the long weekend trips.

We're point poor, but like 8-9 night trips, so we'll do 3-4 night at a moderate and then 5 nights at DVC. However, for an upcoming extended family trip, we'll stay in a 2 BR for 8 straight nights - my preference is not to move, but I like going to Disney too much . . .

I picked other since we have done every option except stay off-site and stay for two weeks.

Therefore I must give credit to T&R for the first correctly placed vote!

Hmmm, we need multiple choices!
We stay atleast 1 full week DVC, usually in the Fall. We also stay long weekends (like this weekend coming up, 4 nights at OKW :birhdaypa ) And occassionally, we still stay at the deluxe or mods on cash/AP rates.
When we purchased, we got enough points to do a full week in a 1 BR and didn't consider not using the points on weekends. Our add-on allowed us to bring the extended family and/or do long weekends.

We generally stay for 12 days, Sun - Fri, with only the middle Fri/Sat night. We skip the "end" weekends to avoid the high points, but we dont want to move out/in for the middle weekend.
Sometimes one or both of our reserved weeks will be replaced by an inbound II exchange. In those cases, we might get an extra weekend or two depending on the dates of the inbound II exchange... which will give us 14-16 days. In those cases, we will try to change the dates of our FF tickets. So far we have had success and have not had to leave the room empty for the extra nights.

We typically stay 8 nights (Saturday through the following Sunday morning).
However, our next two trips will be 10 nights, and our Dec 2009 trip will be 15 nights.

I voted for a full week because that is my preference. Typically I will do a long weekend (W-Su or Th-M) in the spring and then a full week in the fall, but if I could do both as full weeks I would.
I will say that what constitues a week has changed for me. Before DVC I would fly in on Friday night and back home on Sunday night for a total of 9 nights. Now I would never fly in Friday night. I don't want to waste the points just to go to bed. So I will take the early morning flight on Saturday, and I might come back the following Saturday so that I'm only paying for 2 weekend nights instead of 3. I don't like moving so switching to a moderate really isn't an option. Paying with cash would probably be the only other option I would consider, but I bought DVC so I wouldn't have to deal with that. I knew I would use my points for weekends and I'm fine with that. But I would like to eventually purchase enough points so I can continue going the way I go but stay in a 1 bedroom instead of a studio.

Our next trip will be 10 nights with two weekends in there. I don't like to move rooms and am okay using points for weekends since we probably will only be making one trip a year. Our last trip was 9 nights, but pre DVC. We toured DVC on our last trip & bought right after returning. Am excited to make my first DVC trip.

I voted for a full week and have never been home yet, thought that does come in 78 days, 10 hours and 45 minutes, but who's counting!
And first trip home is currently only five days but we fully intend to do weeks, longer weeks, long weekends, short weeks, whatever. We jumped right in with a great 350 point resale contract.
I'm not Tony but I am MOD!

We only have 160 points for now...so we do Sun-Thurs.

We go 8 to 10 nights at a time, much less and it isn't worth the plane fare from PHX. Usually Sun to Wed or Thurs the next week. Next trip will be Tues. 10/28 to Fri 11/7 because we want to go when its cooler during the F & W festival.

Seriously, may I ask why you travel in that pattern?

I know you ask this of BWV but as usual I can't keep my yap shut! While we haven't yet done WDW as DVC owners, part of our travel arrangements are always based on what Southwest offers for fares. Our August trip for example is $162 per r/t because we selected to travel on their cheapest days. Could have extended the trip one way or another but tix go up, and for five, every little bit helps.
Since we have become Disney nuts, we've gone in Jan/Feb and taken the kids out of school, so it doesn't matter if it's Sun-Sat or Tues-Mon, it's all about the money. And with SW getting me to MCO at 930am direct and a return flight that gets me home at 930pm, it will always be SW and I get what amounts to a nearly a full extra day.
Now that I have #%) I will also be looking for those fall golf trips during the week (real estate is great!) or any other time DW and I want to escape.

I knew I was special!! :D Well, I like to fly into the world on a Saturday because airfare tends to be alittle better leaving on a Saturday. I also like to get settled in from the days flight, get the groceries from Garden Grocer, and just get familiar with my surroundings on that first day. Then I have 5 full days to get into the vacation. The trip seems too short doing all that first day stuff on a Sunday.

Sat-Thurs here too.
If flights are cheaper on friday we'll often fly down the friday nite, stay in a value, and hit DVC on Saturday.

I chose other, at least for now.
We have been using a lot of our points at DL since it is within driving distance. We do however put thought in to how many weekend days we are going to save points or if we are getting there really late, we'll see if off site for those nights makes sense. For our Sept trip we are currently only staying DVC, but we might add a resort night or two at the beginning/end (weekend of course) of that time, depending on flight prices mostly.

We started out doing a week at a time, but now it's usually 10-12 days with only one weekend in there. We also usually only do GVs Sun-Thurs since guests like fish start to stink after 5 nights!

Do you do the GV's first or 2nd? I would think that it would be tougher to "downgrade" rather than "upgrade" mid-trip.
OTOH: The opposite POV also exists. In 2006 we went down for 12 days... and invited BIL/SIL to join us for the last 5 days (Sun-Thurs). We started our trip in slight "park commando" style since it had been a while since our previous trip (we canceled our trips after Gregory's accident). After the first week, we were ready to relax... but along comes the relatives who have never been before... and might never go again... so we felt compelled to get back into park commando mode.
We decided that it would be better to have relatives come first... and then allow us time to relax later.

We hope to GV with the whole family starting the Saturday after Thanksgiving, and maybe even staying until the next Saturday morning, if I am able to get the ressies. My thought is that if we arrive Saturday evening, the crowds from Thanksgiving weekend will start to head out on Sunday, leaving the parks in good shape; and things should stay pretty good through the next Friday morning, at least, so we wouldn't want to have to check out/travel that day.
Again, this is IF the contract presently awaiting a ROFR decision comes through. If I get that one, I will be pretty fat with points, at first. So, this is probably the only time we would be able to burn two weekend nights for the every-other-year "whole family" trip.
Edited 6/13 Learned this afternoon that Disney waived ROFR on my contract. WooHoo! Looking forward to doing some Mickey Mouse stuff with the family.

Because we only closed on our 2 contracts last Tuesday and aren't in the system yet, but we do have our first 7 vacations tentatively scheduled out in excel format (before the twins start kindergarten), and 5 of them are full weeks (8 days/7 nights) and two are Sun - Thurs point savers. This assumes we will not buy more points and we of course have no idea what our point usage (if any) will look like at the 14-story crescent-shaped sandwich tower.
