Hi all-

I'm a newbie to this site and am delighted to be able, finally, to make a first post. AOL has let me log on but hasn't let me do anything: I kept being told I was a guest evn tho the screen had just said that I was logged in. Webmaster suggested I try different browser, so here I am, on Netscape!!

We have been owners for 10 years now - at BW, BC and SSR. Love it love it love it. This August tho, we're going on the Magic cruise back from CA thru the Panama canal. We wanted to trade points for the cruise, as we did for the Mediterranean last year, but space was so hard to get, it was easier to do $$$. All of which is a roundabout way of saying I'd like to rent some points or transfer them etc to pay towards the cruise! Any advice on how to do that? I've looked at the rent/trade etc board but don't want to offer something unless I know how to do it, both for me and a potential renter.

I don't know what's a reasonable price, how to transfer, how many times one can tranfer, whether its better/easier to make the reservation and so forth. Or can one point me to a place that might explain such things...

Also - how do I use the cute little icons that show up on the right?

I just posted this and it said that I am waiting for ROFR. Right of first refusal? Why would I be that?

Just click on the one you want, and it will show up (the code for it will show up on your screen; the actual icon will show up in your post) wherever in your message your cursor is, when you click.

No ideas about the renting/transferring stuff. Brand new owner, and haven't gotten into that.

"Waiting to pass ROFR" is just the tag you will have until you have 80 posts. It basically IDs you as a relative newbie - like me. After 80, you get to be a Studio, and the more (way more) posts you make, the larger your "accommodations," per your tag.

Sorry you had so much trouble getting registered. Did you go to your e-mail and click the link to complete your registration?

I tried to copy your message so i could respond to the individual thoughts but I guess I don't know how to do that either. Since I have dialup, the only way I get online is thru aol and then to get here I have to go to netscape. Yes I did go to the link to register as instructed - and the screen on aol says I have logged in but won't let me do anything - like trying to answer you - I couldn't do it thru the aol browser - had to go out and back to netscape. Makes me feel really dumb. :hammer: Thanks for the info about the icons and the rofr stuff - i did wonder why some people were studios and grand villas - thought it had to do with how many points they had!

Welcome vstarr!!!
As far as renting or transferring points- the going rate seems to be somewhere around $10-$12 per point. You might want to start a new thread- titled something like "Questions about renting out my points" or something like that for more help with that question.

ps: That cruise sounds wonderful!

I wish the tags worked that way! I'm in a grand villa here - but am on the low scale of point ownership!

Thanks for the advice - I think I will try that. And, yes, we're REALLY looking forward to the cruise... and then 4 days at the BC afterwards!

"More" is at the bottom of the dialog box holding all the smileys at the right. If you click it, another box will pop up on the left. Expand that box by pulling out on the bottom right corner, and you'll have two columns with lots of choices. Scroll down, and after awhile, you get to the Disney related emoticons.

To put in those "little pictures" go to "User CP," at the top of the page. The little pictures by your name are "avatars." The ones at the bottom of people's posts are "signatures." To add either, you will need to subscribe to a (free) online photo sharing site, such as photobucket.com. You have to size your photos appropriately, according to website guidelines, in order to insert them into your messages.
