I posted in another thread about this, though it was about another topic. So I bring it here. My question or rather a poll, can someone or all tell me their pros and cons of the various places to stay at SSR. My DF(fiance) and I havent stayed here yet. Just bought in Feb. I know everyone has their own opinion and I will respect them all I was just looking for ideas. The way I look at it I got 46 years to try them all. I looked at the review page already, I just want feedback from the best "bloggers" from the best disney site. (man Im kissing admins butt. Hehe) Thanks to all who give their 2 cents, greatly appreciated.

My favorite section is the Springs. It is close to everything. The pool, food court, bus stop. I also like the Grandstand because the quiet pool is nice and it is also very close. I am sorry though I do not know which buildings have the best view.

My wife and I have had stays at the Springs and Congress Park (we'll be back in August). We liked both areas. Springs was nice as stated above and we had a nice view of Downtown Disney in Congress Park. I don't remember which buildings we had, though.
Contrary to what many say about Saratoga on this site, I don't find the walks from the different sections to be any big deal (unless you have a physical disability). We've walked around the entire place and found it to feel 'smaller' than it appears.

Springs- closest to Carriage House and Main Pool
Grandstand- newsest rroms, many golf course views, themed pool with snack bar, Part of this section is very convenient to Carriage House
Congress Park: many have DTD views, Easy walk to DTD Marketplace, Parts of section are fairly close to Carriage House, nice quiet pool
Paddocks- Most have pretty water views, quiet section, quiet pool, Parts of this section have a very easy walk to DTD Marketplace, a bit removed from Carriage House
Carousel- Easiest in and out for those with a car, very quiet, most rooms have a pretty water view. No quiet pool- farthest from Carriage House.
Other people include bus rotation in the pros/cons- but I don't know how it goes- I think Grandstand is the 1st stop though.

For most buses, I believe the rotation is:
Grandstand - Carousel - Paddock - Congress park - Springs.
Possibly Carousel and Paddock share a stop... but I dont think so. Also I believe the order changes for buses to DTD... with Congress Park being the last stop... then right out the side gate over to DtD.

I am pretty sure that Carousel and Paddock had separate stops.
You are right about the route from DTD, at least earlier this month, was different than when coming from other places. They came in a different entrance and the first stop was Springs, then the Grandstand, and then the rest were the same.

The DTD/internal bus has a separate then all of the other buses at SSR.

When we first bought SSR, we thought the Springs was the best section. And could not wait to stay there. Our first trip we got the Paddock section and was really bummed. But after we got to our room and stepped out on the balcony, we loverd it. We had a room overlooking the lake. It was beautiful. Second trip we got Congress Park, DTD view. We didn't request it, but it was nice. We really like the convience of walking to DTD, which we do on every trip. The next two times down we got Paddock and Congress Park again. Then the Grand Stand section opened and have stayed there everytime since. We love the convience of the first bus stop, next to both main pools, closeness to lobby and AP, and the ferry dock is just off the walkway to the right, as you approach the DME stop.
We have no desire to stay at the Springs now, but I do think that section is great for families with very young kids. WE have no desire to stay in the Carousel section. No pool, no amenities, no laudry (if you need it) and longest walk to lobby and AP. Only great for people who want to be isolated or with cars.

I also purchased at SSR in Feb. I like the idea of being able to book at a certain location. We have booked a vacation for next Feb. Prior to booking I had tried to find a map of the resort that would list the names of the buildings/areas but was unsuccessful. I find the information listed earlier very helpful, but is anyone aware of an actual map listing out the buildings? When I booked the trip I asked MS and they were not able to tell me building names. She did list Congress (which I had already known) and the Springs, she listed one other area but after three attempts of MS repeating herself I gave up (felt I was speaking with Dell CS :computers). Where is the petition? I would love to sign it.
Love this sight, wish I would have found before I bought, might have made a different choice. but I sure have learned way more from this sight than anywhere else!

Here is a link to the map- you can click it to zoom in or out.
The 5 sections are Congress Park- Carousel - Grandstand - Springs - Paddocks-
These are the sections, the individual buildings are numbered (see map above)
The best thing to do is email dvc at DVCMemberSatisfactionTeam@disneyvacationclub.com and let them know your feelings. I am collecting signatures, in case DVC decides not to implement booking categories. If that is the case then I will have the petition with the names prepared for the annual meeting in December. In the past they said the reason the don't have booking cats is because nobody was asking for it. So I want everyone to email them- then if that doesn't work the next step will be to prepare and deliver the petition.
PS- link to petition is in my signature!

Here's a little bonus to the Springs that won't matter to many but for some it is nice.
If you are a carsick type person, or just a small fry with legs that want to run, you can really minimize bus travel by staying in the Springs. When leaving for the parks in the morning, the buses come to the Springs last, so you are getting on the bus and leaving the resort (and maybe this is a problem because of capacity at some times of year but I tend to travel in low periods). When you get back from the Parks, the Springs is last, but you can get off at the Grandstand (first stop) and it is a pleasant walk.
A little pet peeve of mine is that they didn't originally intend to build the Grandstand, and the other bus stops are arranged in a circle so no backtracking and an efficient internal route. Now with the Grandstand there is a separate and useless side trip.

We have stayed at SSR in early November, mid-June and August and have always seemed to encounter really crowded buses. We've stayed at Congress Park twice and the Paddocks once. We much preferred CP, even though our Paddocks room was brand new and quite nice. The walk to the main buildings just was too "challenging" for my senior mom in the muggy weather. And we always lucked out with great views at Congress Park.

My husband and I stayed at SSR last September, and it must have been dead, because we had the choice of staying in whatever area we preferred. It was a toss up between the view of DTD in Congress Park and the convenient location of the Springs, but in the end we went with location. I believed we stayed in building #3800 and had a great view of a nice pond from our balcony. Even though we are still in our 20s, it helped having a close location to the pool and Carriage House. It came in handy in the evening when we were tired, but wanted a snack and also when it was rainy one night. I loved the resort and am sure that no matter where you stay you will have a great time!
