View Full Version : ANNOUNCEMENT: Looking for Pictures

Hi, All --

I'm looking for some help as I make some improvements to our main site (roll out soon!). As part of the improvements, I am looking for some pictures to add to the site. This is what I'm looking for:

1. Resort pictures of BWV, VWL, OKW, VB, AKV, and HHI.

2. I'm also looking for villa pictures of VWL, OKW, VB, AKV, and HHI. I'd prefer it if these particular pictures were relatively free of luggage and people (I'm in the process of making room slide shows, and it just looks better this way.)

You'll have to give us irrevocable permission to use the pictures on our site (Honestly, I don't want to have to worry about removing them if someone gets into a snit for some reason. I have no intention of actually re-printing them or anything like that.), so if that's an issue, it'd be better not to send them. If I use your pictures, I will include an acknowledgment on the primary resort page.

I'll probably be asking for additional Disney pictures later, but "resorts" is what I'm thinking right now.

If you'd like to send pictures, please send them (and be sure to indicate what resort they're from) to webmaster at mouseowners dot com.

Thanks, guys!!

:) Kim

Kim,

Here are some aerial shots I took during a departure from KISM (Kissimmee airport) in 2003. You can see some of the DVC resorts in there (BWV, BCV, VWL, future site of BLT).

I'll post them so those who enjoy this type of shot can take a look too. I was at3500'. I could not go lower because the TFR is 3000' feet... and I didn't want to get shot down. :)

/Jim

Super photos, Jim. We have a huge aerial photo of South Orlando in the office showing all of the resorts ( a local firm flies Orlando every two years to do photos) but it's not the cool detail your photos have.

Kim,
I've got lots of resort photos...but you if you don't want luggage and people clutter, you probably don't want a purple van in them either.....but if you do......

Kim, here's a link to an HHI slide show. If you want any of these, let me know. There's more where this came from...

A few weeks ago, I stayed in 3 different types of AKV studios (savannah, standard, and value). I've already sent you the standard and value, I'll send some more later.

There are some great shots here!

This may seem like a silly question, but do you want inside shots, too, or just outside ones?

Both. Rooms as well as resorts.

Thanks, everyone. If you can keep them coming, that would be great! I know there must be more picture-takers out there!

Those aerial pictures of dw is amazing. Jim--one question--isn't DW a "no fly" zone? You look awfully close! Mary

Those aerial pictures of dw is amazing. Jim--one question--isn't DW a "no fly" zone? You look awfully close! Mary

After 9/11, a Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) was placed around WDW. It is a 5 mile radius from a point inside of WDW... and it extends from GND to 3000'. I was flying at 3500'.

When I took off from KISM... I had no idea where they would be vectoring me. A few minutes into flight I got the instructions "Radar Services Terminated, Resume Own Navigation". I flew directly toward WDW (I was already pointing the right direction)... leveled off at 3500'... and as I approached the TFR... announced... N206JD overflying Disney TFR, 3500'. I wanted it on tape! The FAA takes busting a TFR very seriously.

I believe I was using a 200mm lens with a DSLR... so it was an effective 300mm lens. The "wide angle" looking shots over Bay Lake were actually taken with a normal lens.

Looking at your pics Jim almost gave me goosebumps. Those were AWESOME. How nice would it have been to get closer. Dam terrorists ruin it for everyone.

Rumor has it that Disney used 9/11 as an opportunity to ban the planes carrying advertising and political/religious banners - many with negative comments during Gay Days. Someone said they tried before 9/11 but the FAA wasn't sympathetic. I'm sure Disney's primary concern was safety, but banning advertising had to be a happy side effect and part of the motivation.

Pretty much now all you get are skywriters writing "Jesus"

Has anyone picked out the airport within WDW? Either from the pics... or from their trips around the park?

Hi, guys --

I hate to be a party pooper, but would it be possible to get this thread back on topic?

Jim's pics are indeed impressive and I'm trying to figure out how they can fit into the "resorts" section (though I just might have to wait until I need "general Disney" pics).

But I'd really like to get back to asking if people would be willing to share their inside and outside resorts pics, and if so, could they please send them to my email address (webmaster at mouseowners dot com).

Thanks :)

Kim,
I will sort through all my pic folders and send only resort related images.
We "have" ( can you tell that work is twisting my arm) to go to a conference at Coronado Springs next week and I'll make a point to get several there, as well.
I used to take so many pics that I found myself missing most of the fun and concentrating on capturing memories. Trust me...I've learned my lesson... no more than a couple hundred per visit now.

Kinda like this one I got a few years back at the Navel station here in Fort Worth.. They stopped to refuel the plane & stayed for a few hours.. It was quite a site to see the shuttle close up..

Great space shuttle shots, people, but I would encourage you to add them to Colorado Belle's shuttle pictures threads sub-forum in Community Hall here:
http://www.mouseowners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10759

It's too easy to get off track otherwise.

Thanks!
