Now, we've been to WDW in January during the big marathon. In fact, last time we were there at that time we were departing early on the morning of the big race. Traffic was a bit rerouted and it could have been a bit confusing if you hit it at just the right (or wrong) time.

SO, I saw last week that with our luck we'll be coming in the weekend of the first annual Minnie Marathon. The only complication I see for us is on Sunday when we check out of whereever we'll be and check into SSR Sunday morning. Here is what the site says:
Course Description
The Women Run the World 15K will start at Disney's Animal Kingdom® Theme Park and will continue towards Disney's Wide World of Sports® Complex. Participants will then experience the excitement of show business as they run through the Disney MGM-Studios. The course will take runners past the charming coastal village of Disney's Yacht and Beach Club and though Epcot® for a unforgettable finish! With a course that winds through three WALT DISNEY WORLD® theme parks, Women will truly run the world!

SO, I guess my question is this. We were thinking of staying near the airport Saturday night and driving to the World early Sunday morning (like 8 or 9am) and checking into SSR. BUT our other plan was to check into the Swan late Saturday night, check out of the Swan Sunday morning and then over to SSR. Do you think we'll have trouble getting from point A to point B at any point on Sunday morning?
What would you do? :headbange

OH! I should also add that we have Kona reservations at 10am on Sunday morning. We'll be driving there...do you think we're going to run into trouble getting there?

According to the pace requirements, it should be done around 9 am (6:30 start, 15 minute per mile pace req.). The last road crossing should be at 8:30, as the last 2+ miles are on teh BW and in Epcot.

So, absolutely no porblem getting to Kona by 10. If you wait until 8:30 to leave teh Swan, you should be fien if you take Plan B. I don't see any problems gettign to SSR if you take Plan A.

Excellent. We want to drive over on our own and not deal with the buses. And since the marathon doesn't go to the MK, maybe that would make it easier -- I guess the only challenge may possibly be getting out of the Swan.

Did you see the map for the race?

Ok -- We've had a minor tweek in plans which will help us out in the long run.

We are now going to be checking in late on Saturday night at FW for a cabin. We'll stay there until Monday. This gives us our first two nights in the cabin before we check into our 2BR villa. Now we don't have to worry about moving around the morning of the big race -- not that it would have been a huge deal, but I think this will work out nicely and give us some variety. We've always wanted to stay in the cabins, plus we got an awesome AP rate for the two nights.

:D

It's a 15K race through AK, MGM and Epcot. The race itself is on Sunday the 7th. I believe there's also some kind of fun run too.

Here's where the info is:

Based on the map and the times, I think with our plan right now we're good to go. The race sounds neat -- hope it is a success!

I also notice that the grad nights are in May. Luckily, we'll miss those as we're getting in too late on Saturday night for it to affect our plans. PHEW!:bouncingp
